Citroen C3 is manufactured in Tamil Nadu, along with its electric counterpart
After making its debut in India in 2021 with the C5 Aircross SUV, Citroen launched the C3 hatchback last year at a starting price of Rs 5.70. Prices for the hatchback have been hiked twice since then. Citroen eC3, the hatchback’s electric counterpart, is based on the same platform and manufactured out of the same facility in Tamil Nadu.
At Rs 6.16 lakh, Citroen C3 is one of the most affordable hatchbacks in India. Due to similar platforms and body parts, Citroen is able to manufacture the eC3 out of the same plant as C3, thereby reducing production costs. The only thing keeping the eC3’s relatively higher is the EV’s battery pack, which is sourced from China.
Under the hood, the Citroen C3 is offered in two engine options – 1.2L Puretech 110 and 1.2L Puretech 82. The former is a 1.2-litre three-cylinder turbo petrol engine coupled with a 6-speed transmission, producing a maximum power of 110hp and 190Nm torque. The Puretech 82 is a 1.2-litre three-cylinder naturally aspirated engine mated to a 5-speed transmission, producing a maximum power of 82hp and 115Nm torque.
Citroen will also be debuting its new midsize SUV, the C3 Aircross, in India on April 27. Since the Citroen C3 Aircross is based on the C3 hatchback, a lot of the hatchback’s styling is expected to be seen on the SUV as well. The C3 Aircross will get the same split headlamps, grille, and wraparound tail lamps as its hatchback sibling. The midsize SUV will obviously be a bigger vehicle featuring an SUV-like stance. It is expected to be 4.2 metres long.

Prices for the Citroen C3 start at Rs 6.16 lakh and go all the way up to Rs 8.25 lakh. Meanwhile, Citroen eC3 starts at Rs 11.50 lakh and goes up to Rs 12.43 lakh. Citroen C3 rivals the likes of Tata Punch, Maruti Suzuki Swift, Renault Kiger, Nissan Magnite, and Maruti Suzuki Ignis. Its electric counterpart, eC3, rivals Tata Tigor EV and Tiago EV.
