Citroen eC3 revealed in Europe

Citroen eC3 was launched in India back in February at a starting price of Rs 11.50 lakh. The electric hatchback has now been unveiled in Europe. The European variant of the eC3 is significantly different from its India-spec counterpart. The automaker has made several cosmetic and powertrain changes on the European eC3.

Citroen eC3: Here’s what the European avatar of the electric hatchback looks like

The European version of Citroen eC3 gets a sleeker headlamp setup and a split grille that houses the Citroen logo. The logo on the India-spec eC3 blends with the chrome bars running across the shut-off grille. In profile, the electric hatchback retains its boxy looks but gets different door handles and fenders. The C-pillar of the eC3 gets an illuminated strip that denotes the current charging mode. At the back, the bumper, tailgate, and tail lamps get a new design as well.

Inside, the Citroen eC3 gets a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, steering-mounted controls, and a Heads-Up Display. The EV gets Citroen’s connected car tech which allows buyers to pre-heat or pre-cool their vehicles before departure, monitor the charge status, show vehicle location, and more.

Talking about the powertrain, the European Citroen eC3 is powered by a front axle motor that produces a maximum power output of 113hp. The EV can go from 0-100 kmph in 11 seconds. The 44kWh Lithium Ferro Phosphate battery pack on the eC3 offers a driving range of 320km. The entry-level variant will deliver a 200km driving range. Using a 100kW fast charger, this battery pack can be juiced from 20-80% in under 30 minutes. The CC21 platform underpinning the eC3 is the same as its Indian counterpart but it receives a host of changes for Europe.

The India-spec Citroen eC3 utilises a 29.2kWh battery pack that is sourced from China. This battery pack delivers a 320km driving range as well. It can be fully charged in under 11 hours using a 3.3kW home charger. With a DC fast charger plugged in, this battery can be charged from 10-80% in under an hour. The single electric motor powering the Indian eC3 produces a peak power output of 57hp and 143Nm torque.

Conclusion

Entry-level variants of the Citroen eC3 will be priced as low as €23,300 in several European markets, making it one of the most affordable EVs in Europe. It will be made available in two variants – You and Max. The 200km range variant will be launched in 2025 at an expected price of €19,990.
