Citroen C5 Aircross facelift launched in India at Rs 36.67 lakh

French automaker Citroen has released the facelifted version of the Citroen C5 Aircross in India at a price of Rs 36.67 lakh. While the outgoing model was offered in two trims (Feel and Shine), the facelift has only been made available in the higher-end Shine trim. Priced at Rs 36.67 lakh, the facelift is Rs 2.89 lakh more expensive than the outgoing Shine variant. The SUV had undergone a price hike earlier this year as well. The new C5 Aircross comes with a refreshed design and updated features.

2022 Citroen C5 Aircross facelift: What’s New?

The teaser reveal dropped by Citroen a few days back made it pretty clear that the front fascia of the SUV will look radically different from the outgoing model. The split-headlamps have been ditched for LED Vision headlamps which are more discrete and darker, and give the SUV a more robust look. The V-shape LED DRLs are made of piano keys design and give the front lights a 3D look. The DRLs run across the grille, and the newly revamped Citroen logo has been placed at the centre, independent of the DRLs. The vertical air intake area has been restyled as well, widening the front fascia and giving the SUV a more menacing look. The side profile remains the same except for the redesigned 18-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels, matte black roof rails, and glossy black mirror caps. At the rear, the tail lamps now come with a three-dimensional LED light signature, keeping the look consistent with the front end.

Inside, the Citroen C5 Aircross now comes with a freestanding 10.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster. The AC vents are now placed below the screen and receive a new modernised look. The 12.3-inch digital cluster comes with 3 customisable screens – Personal, Dials, and Minimum. The centre console also gets a black leather-effect fabric finish which is further enhanced by chrome design lines. The SUV also gets an electric panoramic sunroof, wireless charging, seat ventilation, and automatic climate control.

Mechanically, there are no changes made to the facelift. Earlier, there had been reports that it may come with a mild hybrid setup, but Citroen has chosen to stick with the 2.0-litre diesel engine in India. This engine produces a maximum power of 177hp and 400Nm peak torque and comes mated to an 8-speed torque converter automatic gearbox. The mileage offered is 17.5kmpl. India is one of the last remaining markets where Citroen continues to stick with the 2.0-litre diesel engine. In most markets overseas, the SUV is offered in a 1.5-litre diesel, petrol, or petrol hybrid configuration.

Commenting on the launch, Roland Bouchara, CEO & Managing Director, Stellantis India, said, “We are excited to launch the new C5 Aircross SUV in India, our flagship SUV in the Citroën portfolio and it embodies all the elements of the Citroën Advanced Comfort® program. C5 Aircross, recognised since its launch as the most comfortable and flexible SUV in its category, has now been given a makeover to assert a more prestigious, modern and dynamic personality. It is becoming more aspirational and will appeal to Indian customers waiting for a more distinctive character.”
