Bookings for Maruti Suzuki Invicto to begin on June 19

Maruti Suzuki’s next big release in India is its multi-purpose vehicle based on Toyota Innova HyCross. Previously believed to be named ‘Engage’, the automaker confirmed that the MPV will be called Maruti Suzuki Invicto. The HyCross-based MPV will make its debut on July 5. The automaker announced that bookings for Invicto will begin next week. Customers can start booking the Invicto from June 19 onwards.

Maruti Suzuki Invicto: What to expect?

Since it is based on Innova HyCross, Maruti Suzuki Invicto will share its platform and underpinnings with Toyota’s new hybrid MPV. Differences will come in the form of design and styling. The Invicto will borrow some styling cues from the Grand Vitara. Up front, the MPV will get a wide grille with a honeycomb mesh pattern. This grille will also get chrome highlights.

The LED DRLs on Maruti Suzuki Invicto will feature the three-dot design found on the Grand Vitara and Baleno. Connecting the LED headlamps will be two horizontal chrome bars running across the length of the grille. The Invicto will also get a new design for the front and rear bumpers.

Toyota’s TNGA-C platform will underpin Maruti Suzuki Invicto. As mentioned earlier, it will also share its powertrain with Toyota Innova HyCross. The 2.0-litre petrol engine on Innova HyCross produces a maximum power output of 152hp and 187Nm torque. This engine is paired with fifth-gen strong hybrid tech (M20A FXS) and can produce a combined power of 186hp. The non-hybrid variant produces 174hp and 197Nm. Maruti Suzuki Invicto’s mileage will be similar to that of HyCross, which puts out 21.2kmpl.

Maruti Suzuki Invicta is the first Maruti offering to be based on a Toyota product since the start of the Suzuki-Toyota alliance in 2017. Since the start of the partnership, Toyota has rebadged the Vitara Brezza as Urban Cruiser and Baleno as Glanza in India. In Europe, Suzuki rebadges Toyota’s RAV-4 and Corolla Wagon as A-Cross and Swace. Ciaz, Ertiga, and Celerio are also rebadged as Toyota cars in some foreign markets.

The Innova HyCross range starts at Rs 18.30 lakh and goes up to Rs 28.97 lakh. Maruti Suzuki Invicto will rival Tata Safari, Mahindra XUV700, Kia Carnival, and Toyota Innova HyCross.
