The 3rd-gen Hyundai Creta is currently being road tested in several locations across the world, including India. The midsize SUV was recently spied in Haryana. Like the previous test mules, it was draped in heavy camouflage. However, its infotainment system was left undisguised. This is the first time that we’ve gotten a glimpse of the upcoming SUV’s central display. It appears to be Hyundai’s new Pleos Connect infotainment system, which was unveiled earlier this month.

2027 Hyundai Creta: Everything we know so far

Previous spy shots have revealed the next-gen Creta’s interior space, but the SUV’s dashboard was hidden under covers. The new spy shots give a glimpse of the large central display and a horizontal bar in the line of sight of the driver, suggesting the presence of Hyundai’s next-gen Pleos Connect infotainment system.

The large central display is divided into 3 sections: the driving information screen (for essential data like speed, warning lights, and 3D graphics of surrounding objects, and more), the app screen (for navigation, media, and third-party apps), and the bottom bar (for easy access to recently used and pinned apps). Users can switch between a single screen or split screen layout.

The sleek horizontal display in front of the driver keeps their focus on the road while displaying essential information like speed, media and turn-by-turn directions. These items are directly in the line of sight of the driver. The new Gleo AI makes it easy for users to interact with the infotainment system in natural language. It can recognise the speaker’s location in the car. This can be leveraged to carry out seat-specific functions while using natural language commands. For example, you can instruct Gleo AI to turn off the seat warmer, and it’ll execute the function for your seat only. The Pleos Connect system also enables OTA updates for the SUV.

No changes are expected under the hood of the 3rd-gen Hyundai Creta. The midsize SUV will stick with the current 3 engine options. The 1.5-litre petrol and diesel engines generate a maximum power output of 115hp. The 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine puts out 160hp. All three engines can be mated to a 6-speed manual or 6-speed DCT gearbox. It remains to be seen whether Hyundai will equip its bestselling midsize SUV with a strong-hybrid powertrain.

Final Thoughts

Prices for the current-gen Creta start at Rs 10.79 lakh and go up to Rs 20.05 lakh. The 3rd-gen model will demand a premium over these prices. It is expected to launch in early 2027. Upon launch, it will rival the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, Toyota Urban Cruiser HyRyder, Kia Seltos, Volkswagen Taigun, Honda Elevate, Citroen Aircross, and Skoda Kushaq.
