2023 Honda City facelift images leaked ahead of launch

Images of the new Honda City facelift have been leaked online, ahead of the sedan’s launch next month. The images reveal the exterior look of the sedan as well as give a look inside the cabin. While Honda has not announced the official launch for City, the compact sedan is expected to roll out in the first week of March.

2023 Honda City: What do the leaked images suggest?

Since it is a mid-cycle refresh, the new Honda City does not flaunt a lot of design changes. The bumper gets a slight redesign while the grille now comes with a sleeker chrome bar. The grille itself will come with a honeycomb pattern for higher trims and vertical slats for entry-level trims. A new Blue colour scheme has also been made available for the new Honda City.

There isn’t much to differentiate the new Honda City from its outgoing model when it comes to the side profile. Along the rear, the bumper design has been slightly tweaked and the positioning of the reflectors has been adjusted.

Inside, the new Honda City will rock the same layout as its predecessor. However, the instruments will be upgraded and some new features are set to be added. The 2023 Honda City will get wireless charging and ventilated seats. Honda is also planning on adding a new entry-level hybrid trim to the City lineup. Currently, the Hybrid configuration is only available in the top-spec ZX trim.

As reported earlier, Honda will be discontinuing the diesel engine for City due to the upcoming emission norms. The petrol and strong hybrid configurations of the sedan have been updated to meet the BS6 Phase II norms. The 1.5-litre petrol engine produces a maximum power output of 121hp and comes mated to a 6-speed manual or CVT automatic gearbox. Meanwhile, the hybrid powertrain produces a peak power output of 126hp and is paired with an e-CVT gearbox.

Conclusion

As mentioned earlier, the new Honda City is expected to go on sale in the first week of March. Honda will reveal City’s pricing upon launch. The sedan is expected to cost up to Rs 1 lakh more than the outgoing model. Upon launch, the 2023 Honda City will rival the upcoming 2023 Hyundai Verna, Volkswagen Virtus, Skoda Slavia, and Maruti Suzuki Ciaz.
