Bengaluru-based startup Simple Energy has updated its electric scooter with new features. Simple One now gets a higher range along with a few convenient features. The electric scooter’s price remains unchanged at Rs 1.66 lakh. The scooter was first unveiled on August 15, 2021. It was launched in India in May 2023. The update comes as a result of rising competition from Honda and Ola in the electric scooter market.

2025 Simple One: What’s new?
Simple One retains its 5kWh battery pack but gets an updated driving range of 258km. Previously, the scooter had a 212km driving range. The 5kWh battery pack is split into 2 parts – a 3.7kWh fixed unit and a removable 1.3kWh pack. There are no mechanical upgrades on the scooter as its permanent power motor continues to generate a maximum power output of 8.5kW (11hp) and 72Nm of torque. It can accelerate from 0-40kmph in just 2.77 seconds. The top speed of the scooter is capped at 105kmph.
The 5kWh battery pack on Simple One can be charged from 0-80% in 5 hours and 54 minutes with the 750W home charger. With a fast charger, this battery pack can charge up to 80% at the rate of 1.5km/min. Simple Energy is currently working on expanding its network of fast chargers across the country.
Other new features on the Simple One include regenerative braking, a tyre pressure monitoring system, and a USB charging port. The electric scooter also features a 7-inch TFT dashboard which is equipped with connected tech. Riders can pair their smartphones with the scooter using Bluetooth to access these connectivity features. The ride statistics are displayed on the dashboard. There are four driving modes on offer – Eco, Ride, Dash, and Sonic. The scooter has a boot capacity of 30 litres.

Conclusion
The 750W home charger supplied with the Simple One electric scooter fetches an additional Rs 13,000. This takes the total price to Rs 1.79 lakh. Simple Energy currently has 10 dealerships across the country. The tech startup plans to set up 150 dealerships and 200 customer service points by the end of FY2024. Currently, Simple One rivals the likes of Ola S1 Pro+, Vida V1 Pro, Ather 450X, Honda Activa e, TVS iQube, and Bajaj Chetak.
