Simple Energy begins deliveries for its debut EV Simple One

Bengaluru EV startup Simple Energy has begun the delivery process for its debut electric scooter in India, Simple One. The electric scooter was launched last month after being unveiled back in 2021. After a two-year wait, customers can finally get their hands on the indigenous electric scooter. Simple One is priced at Rs 1.45 lakh. The 750W charger costs an additional Rs 13,000. The scooter has received more than 1 lakh bookings so far.

Simple One: What’s on offer?

Simple Energy will roll out the deliveries of One EV in a phased manner. Buyers from Bangalore will be able to get their hands on the electric scooter first. The company is also planning on expanding its retail outlets and customer touchpoints across the country.

Simple One offers the highest range out of all the electric scooters sold in India. The 5kWh battery on this scooter provides a driving range of 212km. This battery unit is rated IP67 for dust and water resistance. With the 750W, this battery pack can be charged from 0-80% in 5 hours and 54 minutes. Buyers will have to pay Rs 13,000 on top of the price of the scooter for this charger. With fast charging, Simple One can be powered at the rate of 1.5km/min up to 80%.

The permanent power motor on Simple delivers a maximum power output of 8.5 kW and 72Nm of torque. The scooter can accelerate from 0-47kmph in just 2.77 seconds, setting the record for its segment. Simple One can reach a top speed of 105kmph.

In terms of features, Simple One gets a 7-inch TFT dashboard that comes with connected tech. You can pair the scooter with your smartphone via Bluetooth. You can view ride statistics on the dashboard as well. There are four driving modes on offer – Eco, Ride, Dash, and Sonic. The scooter has a boot capacity of 30 litres.

Conclusion

Simple One is offered in four single-tone colour options – black, red, blue, and white. Two dual-tone colour options have been made available at a premium of Rs 5,000. In India, Simple One rivals Ola S1 Pro, Vida V1 Pro, Ather 450X, TVS iQube, and Bajaj Chetak.
