Earlier this month, Ather Energy CEO, Tarun Mehta, confirmed via an X (formerly Twitter) post that the company’s latest electric scooter will be launching next year. Dubbed Ather 450 Apex, the new scooter from the EV startup will sit at the top of the 450 line. Bookings for the electric scooter are now open at a token amount of Rs 2,500. Ather Energy will start rolling out the deliveries for the 450 Apex in March.

The Ather 450 Apex has not been revealed in an undisguised form yet. The startup has revealed a few teaser images for the electric scooter that give an idea about its profile. No radical changes are expected in terms of design, but the scooter will be more aerodynamic than the 450X. Last month, Ather Energy invited some of its community members to take the 450 Apex out on a ride. All the test units of the scooter were covered under camouflage.
One of the biggest changes on the new Ather 450 Apex will be the inclusion of a new Warp+ riding mode. Currently, the 450X offers a Warp mode. It has also been confirmed that the 450 Apex will be the fastest electric scooter from Ather yet. It is likely to get a more powerful electric motor than the 450X. The 450X produces a maximum power output of 6.4kW and 26Nm of torque. Ather 450 Apex is expected to surpass these numbers. Its top speed will be above 100 kmph.
Electric motor aside, the Ather 450 Apex will share its battery pack with the 450X. This 3.7kWh battery pack offers a driving range of 146km on the 450X. In comparison, the 3kWh battery pack on the budget 450S can power the scooter for 115km. The 450S matches the 450X in terms of top speed, but the latter produces better acceleration numbers. The upcoming 450 Apex will be the company’s best-performing scooter so far.

While the feature list for the Ather 450 Apex has not been revealed yet, the scooter could get multi-level regenerative braking. The company has also kept a tight lid on the pricing. We expect the scooter to cost around Rs 2 lakh. In other news, Ather Energy recently joined hands with Vida to offer interoperability between their charging stations. Both companies have over 1900 fast charging stations put together.
