The second-gen Skoda Kodiaq was recently crash-tested by the Europ NCAP and received a 5-star safety rating. This model of the Kodiaq is currently being road-tested in India and will launch next year. It will be imported to India as a Completely Knocked Down (CKD) unit and assembled at Skoda’s manufacturing facility in Chakan, Pune.

Skoda Kodiaq: Euro NCAP crash test results explained
In the Adult Occupant Protection test, the Skoda Kodiaq scored 35.7 points out of a possible 40. Euro NCAP noted that the passenger compartment of the Kodiaq remained stable in the frontal offset test. The knees and femurs of the driver and passenger showed good protection. All critical body areas of the passenger were well protected as well. In the side barrier and pole impact tests, Skoda Kodiaq offered good protection to all critical body areas.
In the Child Occupant Protection test, the Skoda Kodiaq scored 40.9 points out of a possible 49. The car offered good protection to all critical body areas. However, the neck of the 10-year dummy showed only adequate protection. The car allows the installation of a rear-facing child restraint system after disabling the front passenger airbag. The third-row seats do not allow the installation of the child restraint system. The Kodiaq also lacks a child presence detection system.
In the Vulnerable Road Users test, the Skoda Kodiaq scored 75 points out of a possible 90. Euro NCAP noted that protection of the head of a struck pedestrian or cyclist was predominantly adequate, with poor results recorded on the still windscreen pillars and at the base of the screen. The Kodiaq offered good protection to the pelvis, femur, and tibia. The Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB) system responded adequately to vulnerable road users and well to oncoming cyclists.

Conclusion
As mentioned earlier, the second-gen Skoda Kodiaq will be launched in India by mid-2025. The current-gen Kodiaq is priced at Rs 39.99 lakh. Expect the updated model to cost a premium over this price. The SUV rivals the likes of MG Gloster, Toyota Fortuner, Jeep Meridian, and Jeep Compass in India.
