Two new affordable sunroof variants added to Hyundai Exter

Hyundai Motor India has added two new variants to the Exter SUV’s lineup. The Hyundai Exter S(O)+ MT and S+ AMT variants are priced at Rs 7,86,300 and Rs 8,43,900 respectively. Both variants are equipped with a smart electric sunroof. The S(O)+ variant fills the gap between the S(O) and SX variants while the S+ AMT variant is sandwiched between S AMT and SX variants. Hyundai Exter S(O)+ MT is now the most affordable variant of the SUV to come with a sunroof.

Hyundai Exter: New variants explained

The S(O)+ variant of the Hyundai Exter costs Rs 37,000 less than the SX trim. Meanwhile, the S+ AMT variant is Rs 46,000 cheaper than the next automatic trim with a sunroof. There are no cosmetic changes on the two new variants.

The electric sunroof is the only distinguishing feature of the two variants. They carry the instrumentation of the variants below them. The S(O)+ MT and S+ AMT variants sport an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a digital instrument cluster with colour TFT Multi-Information Display (MID), rear AC vents, all power windows, LED DRLs, front and rear skid plates, headlamp escort function, floor mats, and more. Safety features include 6 airbags, 3-point seatbelts for all seats, Day & Night IRVM, Tyre pressure monitoring system – Highline, Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Hill-Start Assist Control (HAC), Vehicle Stability Management (VSM), burglar alarm, ABS with EBD, impact-sensing auto door unlock, Emergency Stop Signal (ESS), and more.

Powering the Hyundai Exter is a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine. This engine can produce a maximum power output of 83hp and 114Nm of torque. It can be paired with a 5-speed manual or an AMT gearbox. The Exter shares this engine with the Grand i10 Nios, Aura, i20, and Venue. The CNG variants produce a maximum power output of 69hp and 95.2Nm of torque. It does not get an AMT gearbox option. The manual petrol variants of the Exter offer a mileage of 19.4 kmpl, while the AMT variants offer 19.2 kmpl. In CNG guise, Hyundai claims a mileage of 27.10 kmpl for the Exter.

Prices for the Hyundai Exter SUV start at Rs 6.13 lakh and go up to Rs 10.43 lakh. Hyundai also exports the SUV from India to foreign markets. In India, the Exter rivals Tata Punch, Citroen C3, and Maruti Suzuki Fronx.
