The booking window for the Skoda Kodiaq RS was opened in India yesterday, with the token amount set at Rs 3 lakh. Only 50 units of the SUV were up for grabs. Skoda sold out the entire batch within 6 minutes. This is the second Rally Sport model that the automaker has introduced in India, after the Octavia RS. It is a CBU (Completely Built-Up Unit) import. Its prices are yet to be revealed.

The big highlight of the Kodiaq RS is its sporty engine. It is powered by a 2.0-litre turbo petrol engine, the same as the Octavia RS. It generates a maximum power output of 265hp. However, on the Kodiaq RS, it produces 400Nm of torque, which is 30Nm higher than the Octavia RS. The engine comes mated to a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox. The SUV has an All Wheel Drive (AWD) configuration. It can go from 0-100km/h in 6.3 seconds, with the top speed capped at 231km/h.
The SUV is also equipped with Dynamic Chassis Control (DCC), which allows 15 levels of damping adjustment from comfort-oriented to sporty. It works in tandem with Driving Mode Select, allowing drivers to choose from Eco, Comfort, Normal, Sport, Individual, Snow, and Off-Road modes.
When it comes to features, the Skoda Kodiaq RS packs a free-standing 13-inch infotainment display, a 10-inch digital instrument cluster, a panoramic sunroof, a 3-zone climate control system, a 13-speaker Canton sound system, ambient lighting, and more. On the safety front, it gets 9 airbags, a 360-degree camera, an ADAS package, and more.
The design of the Kodiaq RS has been tweaked to give it a sporty appeal. The front grille gets a glossy black finish, and the front bumper has been reworked to exude a bolder look. The blacked-out treatment has been extended to the exterior mirror covers, upper window frames, roof rails, and D pillars as well. There are dual exhaust tips at the back. The exclusive RS badging can be found on the grille and tailgate.
Inside, the SUV flaunts an all-black theme with red highlights. The upholstery has red stitching, with the headrests rocking the exclusive RS branding in red. There are red highlights on the dashboard, door trims, and footwell area as well. The steering wheel flaunts a 3-spoke wheel design. The front seats are powered and equipped with ventilation, heating, massaging, memory, and thigh extension functions.

It remains to be seen whether Skoda will import more units of the Skoda RS into India. As mentioned earlier, the pricing of the SUV is yet to be revealed. Being a CBU import, we expect it to fetch up to Rs 55 lakh. It rivals the Volkswagen Tayron R Line, MG Majestor, Toyota Fortuner Legender, Jeep Meridian, Audi Q3, and Mercedes-Benz GLA.
