Tata Nexon EV and Tiago EV: Revised pricing

Tata Motors says the drop in prices for the two EVs is due to the drop in battery cell prices. The new Punch EV’s pricing already accounts for this drop in cost, which is why its prices have remained unchanged. The MR variant of the Tata Nexon EV is now priced at Rs 14.49 lakh, after being reduced by Rs 25,000. Meanwhile, the top-spec LR variant gets a bigger price cut. It now costs Rs 16.99 lakh, after dropping Rs 1.20 lakh in asking price. The Tiago EV range now starts at Rs 7.99 lakh, after a price reduction of Rs 70,000.

The MR variant of the Tata Nexon EV gets a 30kWh battery pack that offers a driving range of 325km. Meanwhile, the 40.5kWh battery pack on the LR variant can go up to 465km on a full charge. Compared to the pre-facelift Nexon, this is an improvement of 12km for both variants. Talking about the power specs, the Nexon EV MR puts out 129hp and 215Nm, while the LR variants produce 145hp and 215Nm.

The Tiago EV is available in two battery pack options: 19.2kWh and 24kWh. The EV comes in 7 variants, with multiple battery packs and charging combinations. Both battery packs are rated IP67 for dust and water resistance. Tata claims a Modified Indian Driving Cycle (MIDC) range of 315 km for the 24kWh battery pack and 250km for the 19.2kWh battery.

Powering the Tiago EV is a Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor which delivers a peak power output of 55kW and an instant full torque delivery of 114Nm. The electric hatchback can accelerate from 0-60kmph in 5.7 seconds. There are also two driving modes on offer – City mode and Sport mode – with an additional four levels of regen settings in each mode.

Tata Motors is also offering significant discounts on the MY2023 units of the Tata Nexon EV (facelift and pre-facelift). In India, the electric SUV rivals the likes of the Mahindra XUV400 EV and Citroen eC3. Meanwhile, the Tiago EV primarily rivals the MG Comet EV along with the entry-level variants of Citroen eC3.
