Maruti Suzuki Baleno facelift set to launch on September 5

Maruti Suzuki Baleno is getting a facelift next month. The new model is set to hit the market on September 5. The current, second-gen version of the hatchback was introduced in 2022. Last year, its lineup was updated to offer 6 airbags as a standard feature. Test mules of the facelifted model have been spotted on Indian roads since the start of 2026. Although all mules spotted so far have been covered under camouflage, they reveal some important details about the hatchback.

2026 Maruti Suzuki Baleno facelift: What to expect?

The Maruti Suzuki Baleno facelift test mules spotted so far hint towards fresh changes along the front fascia. The hatchback could get a redesigned grille and bumper. A chrome bar running across the grille will connect the lighting units. The LED headlamps and DRLs are expected to be carried forward from the current model. Interestingly, the new bumper does not have any cutouts for fog lamps on the test mules. There aren’t any big changes along the sides, apart from a new design for the alloy wheels. At the back, the bumper has been refreshed, but the tail lamps have been retained from the current model.

Glimpses of the interior layout from the spy shots of the Baleno facelift reveal a similar dashboard layout to the current version of the hatchback. We wouldn’t be surprised if the new model sticks with the 9-inch SmartPlay Pro+ touchscreen infotainment system found on the soon-to-be-outgoing model. The slanted air conditioning vents and the three-spoke steering wheel are set to stay, though. The facelift will likely get a new colour theme and upholstery.

In terms of feature updates, a single-pane sunroof and ambient lighting are expected to be the 2 big additions. Other features like Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity, automatic climate control, electrically adjustable ORVMs, auto-dimming IRVM, a 6-speaker sound system, and Heads-Up Display (HUD) are set to be retained. The Suzuki Connect suite on the Baleno offers over 40 connected car tech features, including remote access and control, remote alarm, find my car, stolen vehicle alert, stolen vehicle tracking, tow alert, vehicle location sharing, geo-fencing, and more.

No changes are expected under the hood of the hatchback. It will continue to be powered by the 1.2-litre four-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine. This engine produces a maximum power output of 88hp and 113Nm of torque. It can be mated to a 5-speed manual or AMT gearbox. The manual variants offer a mileage of 22.35kmpl while the AMT variants return 22.94kmpl. In a CNG configuration, the hatchback offers a mileage of 30.61km/kg. The CNG powertrain is available on the Delta and Zeta variants. It does not come with an AMT gearbox.

Final Thoughts

The current lineup of the Baleno starts at Rs 5.99 lakh and goes up to Rs 9.17 lakh. The updated model will demand a small premium. More details are expected as we get closer to launch. On hitting the market, it will lock horns with Toyota GlanzaTata Altroz, and Hyundai i20.
