Skoda Slavia facelift teased ahead of launch next week

The Skoda Slavia facelift is set to make its debut on August 18. Earlier today, Skoda India dropped the first teaser for the updated sedan. The promotional video gives a glimpse of the facelift model’s silhouette without revealing any notable details. However, the sedan has been spotted testing extensively on Indian roads this year. The spy shots give a closer look at the sites of cosmetic changes on the Slavia’s exterior.

Skoda Slavia facelift: What to expect?

The Slavia facelift will carry the same dimensions as the current model. Changes along the exterior will be limited to the front and rear sections. All the test mules spotted so far have camouflaged these sections while keeping the profile uncovered. The cutouts on the front fascia hint at a new grille, perhaps inspired by the Skoda Kushaq. This grille could have lighting elements integrated into it. The front bumper, LED headlamps, and DRLs will get some tweaks as well. No changes are expected along the sides, apart from a new design for the alloy wheels. At the back, the bumper and tail lamps will be refreshed with new designs.

Inside, the Skoda Slavia facelift will get minor updates. The dashboard will be supplemented with new trims to give it a more premium look. The cabin will flaunt several soft-touch elements. The sedan will retain the 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system from the current model. The digital instrument cluster in the driver’s cockpit will be of a similar size. The infotainment system will support wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.

The Skoda Kushaq facelift, which was introduced earlier this year, had a first-in-segment massage function for its rear seats. It remains to be seen whether this function will make it to the Slavia facelift. Other features like ventilated front seats, front parking sensors, an 8-speaker audio system with a 380W output, an air purifier, a powered single-pane sunroof, automatic climate control, 6 airbags, and Level 2 ADAS will be present on the sedan.

The Slavia facelift will not get any mechanical upgrades. It will carry forward the two powertrain options offered on the current model – 1.0L TSI turbo petrol and 1.5L TSI turbo petrol. The 1.0-litre three-cylinder turbo petrol engine generates a maximum power of 115hp and 175Nm peak torque. Currently, this engine can be mated to a 6-speed manual or torque converter gearbox. Skoda will replace the latter with an 8-speed automatic transmission. The 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine produces a maximum power output of 150hp and 250Nm peak torque. Transmission options for this engine include a six-speed manual and a 7-speed DCT automatic gearbox.

Final Thoughts

The current lineup of the Skoda Slavia is priced between Rs 10 lakh and Rs 18.19 lakh. The facelift will demand a small premium over these prices. Upon launch, it will continue to rival the Hyundai VernaVolkswagen VirtusMaruti Suzuki Ciaz, and Honda City in India.
