Mahindra BE 6 Sporteq interior leaked ahead of grand reveal

The Mahindra BE 6 ‘Sporteq’ is set to debut at the automaker’s Independence Day event. Ahead of its grand reveal, images of its revamped interior have surfaced online. The interior setup of the Sporteq variant is what distinguishes it from the standard model. Mahindra dropped a teaser video for the electric SUV earlier this week, but this is the first time its interior setup has been seen undisguised.

Mahindra BE 6 Sporteq: Out goes the cockpit loop, in come the panoramic display

The big change on the new Sporteq variant of the Mahindra BE 6 comes inside the car. It gets a triple-screen panoramic setup on its dashboard, with each panel measuring 12.3 inches. These screens cater to the passenger entertainment system, central infotainment system, and driver’s digital display. This is reportedly the same setup that does duty on the XEV 9e. The dual-screen setup on the standard BE 6 model uses two 12.3-inch displays. This setup will continue to be offered on the lower variants of the EV, while the panoramic display will stay exclusive to the range-topping Sporteq model.

The BE 6 Sporteq also gets rid of the halo-like loop around the driver’s cockpit. This allows the EV to add another cup holder to its centre console. The wireless charging pad and USB-C port have become more accessible to the passenger. The top-spec model has also received a new dual-tone black-and-tan colour theme. This theme extends to the upholstery, dashboard, and door trims. 

No other changes are expected on the Mahindra BE 6 Sporteq. Its exterior will be indistinguishable from the standard model. There may be exclusive ‘Sporteq’ badging on the front fenders or tailgate of the EV. The feature list will remain unchanged as well. Its safety suite will include 6 airbags, Electronic Parking Brake (EPB), all-wheel disc brakes, front fog lamps, cornering lamps, Brake-by-Wire technology, Intelligent Electronic Brake Booster with 46 value-added features, a rear HD camera, front and rear parking sensors, auto-defogger, TPMS, Level 2 ADAS and more.

There won’t be any mechanical upgrades on the new, top-spec BE Sporteq. The EV will continue to be offered in 2 battery sizes – 59kWh and 79kWh. The 59kWh pack offers a driving range of 556km, while the 79kWh unit can go up to 682km on a single charge. Both variants are powered by a single electric motor, but put up different output figures. The 59kWh variants generate a maximum power output of 231hp and 380Nm of torque. Meanwhile, the 79kWh variants put out 286hp and 380Nm.

Final Thoughts

The standard BE 6 range starts at Rs 18.89 lakh and goes up to Rs 28.49 lakh. The Sporteq variant, being the top-spec model, will demand a small premium. Mahindra will announce its price on August 15. Upon launch, it will rival the Hyundai Creta Electric, Maruti Suzuki e Vitara, Tata Sierra EV, and Toyota Urban Cruiser Ebella.
