Honda Elevate is set to debut in India on June 6. The Japanese automaker says that the midsize SUV has been specially designed for the Indian market. It was recently spotted testing in Japan, with a week left to go for the official unveiling. Earlier, the midsize SUV was spotted testing in India as well. The test mules were under heavy camouflage on both occasions.

The recent spy shots of Honda Elevate give a better glimpse of its headlamp and tail light design. The SUV sports an upright nose and a wide grille up front. The roofline is flatter than previously believed and tapers off towards the end. The SUV also gets a sunroof. Along the sides, Honda Elevate gets lots of body cladding and square wheel arches. The tail lamp design is similar to that of the Honda WRV.
A 360-degree camera can also be spotted on the Elevate, which means it will come equipped with Honda’s ADAS package. The higher trims will get a glossy black finish on the alloy wheels. Entry-level variants will get the standard silver finish.
Not much is known about the interior layout of the SUV. We don’t expect any more spy shots of the Elevate to surface before its debut. Given the competition in the segment, Honda will equip its midsize SUV with features like wireless charging, connected car tech, automatic climate control, and more on the higher variants.
Honda Elevate is expected to get the fifth-gen Honda City’s powertrain. This means it will get the 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine that can produce a maximum power output of 121hp. Transmission options include a 6-speed manual or a CVT automatic gearbox. This engine will also be available in a strong hybrid configuration where it produces 126hp. This setup gets an e-CVT gearbox. Honda Elevate will not be made available with a diesel engine.

Apart from Elevate, Honda is also working on a subcompact SUV that has internally been codenamed ‘PF2’. This SUV will be powered by Honda Amaze’s 1.2-litre petrol engine. Meanwhile, Honda Elevate is expected to launch in July, following a June debut. Upon launch, it will rival Hyundai Creta, Volkswagen Taigun, Kia Seltos, Toyota Urban Cruiser HyRyder, and Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara.
