Xiaomi’s debut electric car has been in the pipeline for the last two years. In 2023, the EV’s prospective design renders were leaked on the Internet. The electric sedan was then spotted testing in September. The EV has now been approved by the local regulator and confirmed to have completed the homologation process by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT). Xiaomi SU7 will have 2 wheel size options – 19 inches and 20 inches. The tyre specifications are 245/45 R19 and 245/40 R20 respectively. In the government filings, Xiaomi had submitted two versions of the SU7, with and without Lidar. The MIIT filing also reveals that the Xiaomi SU7 will be offered in three variants – SU7, SU7 Pro, and SU7 Max.
Talking about the powertrain, the Xiaomi SU7 has two drive configuration options – RWD and AWD. The former generates a maximum power output of 299hp and can achieve a top speed of 210 kmph. Meanwhile, the dual motor on the latter can produce a maximum power of 673hp and can reach a top speed of 265kmph. There will be two battery pack options on offer. The smaller battery pack on the entry-level variant will be sourced from BYD. Xiaomi will reveal the driving range specs of these battery packs in the coming months.

Xiaomi is set to begin mass production of the SU7 next month. While no details about the interior of the vehicle have been revealed so far, its infotainment system will be powered by Xiaomi’s HyperOS. It is unclear whether the electric sedan will be launched in India. The Xiaomi SU7 will rival the Tesla Model 3 and BMW i4 globally.
