The Volkswagen Taigun is set to receive a facelift this year. The refreshed model has been spotted on road tests multiple times since last year. One of the test mules was recently spotted in Maharashtra. Like the previous test units, its front and rear sections were draped under covers. The midsize SUV will get some cosmetic tweaks and feature upgrades, but will remain unchanged under the hood.

Volkswagen Taigun facelift: What to expect?
The new Taigun is expected to feature a new design for the grille and LED headlamps. The LED DRLs and front bumper will also receive a few tweaks. The profile of the SUV will remain unchanged, but the top-spec variants could see a new design for the alloy wheels. At the back, the LED tail lamps will mimic the look of the DRLs up front. They will be connected by a light bar. The tail game will sport a cleaner look than the current model. The rear bumper may also get a few tweaks.

Inside, the new Volkswagen Taigun will resemble its newly-launched Skoda counterpart. The two SUVs are underpinned by the same MQB-A0-IN platform. The Taigun facelift will get a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster. Lower variants will be equipped with an 8-inch instrument cluster. There will be support for wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay on board. Other features like dual-colour ambient lighting, a panoramic sunroof, automatic AC, auto-dimming IRVMs, voice-assisted controls, rain-sensing wipers, a rear wiper, rear defoggers, and more are also expected to make the cut. It remains to be seen whether the SUV will get the massage function for the rear seats like its Skoda cousin.

The Taigun facelift will pack over 40 safety features, including 6 airbags, ESC, ABS with EBD, rain-sensing wipers, hill hold assist, ISOFIX anchorages, traction control, and more.Â
No changes are expected under the hood. The midsize SUV will continue to be offered in 2 engine options. The 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine generates a maximum power output of 115hp and 178Nm of torque. It can be mated to a 6-speed manual or automatic gearbox. The 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine produces a maximum power output of 150hp and 250Nm of torque. It can be mated to a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed DSG transmission.
