Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) has added a crucial safety upgrade to its compact SUV. The Toyota Urban Cruiser Taisor now comes with 6 airbags as a standard feature. Previously, this safety feature was only available on the SUV’s top-spec trims. The lower variants were limited to 2 airbags. Taisor’s Maruti sibling, Fronx, got this upgrade last month.

2025 Toyota Urban Cruiser Taisor: What’s new?
The Toyota Urban Cruiser Taisor now comes in a new paint shade. The new ‘Bluish Black’ exterior colour option is available on selected variants. This addition enhances the SUV’s road presence and gives it a sporty edge. No other cosmetic changes have been made to the MY2025 Taisor.
No changes have been made to the interior layout and design of the Taisor. The dashboard flaunts a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system with support for wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The flat-bottom steering wheel is wrapped in leather and integrated with control buttons. Other features include automatic climate control with rear AC vents, keyless entry, paddle shifters, cruise control, wireless charging, push start/stop, electrically adjustable OVRMs, a heads-up display, and more.
The new safety upgrade on the Toyota Urban Cruiser Taisor makes 6 airbags a standard feature across all 5 variants of the SUV: E, S, S+, G, and V. This airbag system includes dual front airbags, two side airbags, and two curtain airbags. Other safety features on the SUV include Vehicle Stability Control (VSC), Hill Hold Assist, and ISOFIX child seat mounts.
Things remain the same under the hood of the Toyota Urban Cruiser Taisor as the SUV continues to be offered in 2 familiar powertrain options. The 1.2-litre K Series naturally aspirated petrol engine produces a maximum power output of 90hp and 113Nm of torque. It can be mated to a 5-speed manual or AMT gearbox. The 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine is also available on the Taisor and produces a maximum power output of 100hp and 148Nm of torque. It can be paired with a 5-speed manual or automatic gearbox. The 1.2-litre K series engine is also available in a CNG configuration.

Final Thoughts
Last month, Toyota hiked the prices of the Urban Cruiser Taisor. The entry-level E trim of the SUV fetches Rs 7.70 lakh, and the top-spec V (DT) trim goes up to Rs 13.06 lakh. The Taisor rivals Maruti Suzuki Fronx, Tata Punch, Citroen C3, Hyundai Exter, Nissan Magnite, and Renault Kiger in India.
