Tata Tigor gets a new top-spec variant

Tata Motors has added a new top-spec variant to the Tigor’s lineup to make it more competitive with the new crop of compact sedans. The top-spec Tata Tigor XZ Plus Lux is priced at Rs 8.50 lakh. The automaker has discontinued the entry-level XE variant of the sedan. This makes Tigor XM the new base model of the sedan. The starting price of Tigor remains unchanged at Rs 6 lakh.

2025 Tata Tigor: What’s new?

The top-spec Tata Tigor XZ Plus Lux features 15-inch dual-tone alloy wheels. The CNG model has 14-inch wheels. The door handles receive chrome highlights. Features like front fog lamps, rain-sensing wipers, shark-fin antenna, automatic headlamps, and autofold OVRMs have also been added to the top-spec variant of the sedan.

Inside, the XZ Plus Lux variant of Tata Tigor gets a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The top-spec sedan also gets a Harmon sound system with four tweeters. Other features include a cooled glove box, automatic temperature control, a push start/stop button, a vanity mirror, Type-C charging, and more. Safety features of the sedan include a 360-degree camera, Hill Hold Control, ESP, a Tyre Pressure Monitoring System, and more.

Things remain the same under the hood as the Tata Tigor continues to be powered by the 1.2-litre petrol engine. This engine produces a maximum power output of 86hp and 113Nm of torque. It can be mated to a 5-speed manual or automatic transmission. In a CNG configuration, this engine puts out 73hp and 95Nm. Tata added the option of an AMT gearbox for the CNG models of the Tigor last year.

The new CNG model rocks the split cylinder setup, which frees up a lot of boot space. The CNG sedan has a Single Advanced ECU which ensures effortless and jerk-free shifting between petrol and CNG modes. It can be started directly in CNG mode too. Its micro-switch shuts off the ignition when the fuel cap is opened. It can only be restarted when the lid is restored.

In case of an unexpected thermal incident, the iCNG tech on the Tata Tigor immediately cuts off the CNG supply to the engine and releases the gas from the cylinder directly into the atmosphere to minimise any risk of inflammation. This tech also detects the minutest of leaks and immediately switches the car from CNG to petrol mode.
