Maruti Suzuki Celerio gets 6 airbags as standard, prices hiked

Maruti Suzuki has equipped the Celerio with 6 airbags across all variants, making it a standard feature. As a result, prices for the Maruti Suzuki Celerio have been hiked by up to Rs 32,500. The top-spec variants have received the biggest price hike. Prices for the hatchback now start at Rs 5.64 lakh and go up to Rs 7.37 lakh.

Maruti Suzuki Celerio is underpinned by the automaker’s 5th-generation Heartect platform. This platform boosts the cabin space as well as the boot storage capacity. The latter gets a 40% bump, with a storage capacity of 313 litres. The hatchback stands at dimensions of 3,695 x1,655 x 1,555 mm and has a 2,435 mm wheelbase.

 

Inside, the Maruti Suzuki Celerio rocks a 7.0-inch SmartPlay Studio floating touchscreen infotainment system with support for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Higher trims of the hatchback get features like a push start/stop button, keyless entry, steering-mounted controls and height-adjustable driver seats. All variants of the Celerio now come with 6 airbags as standard. The AMT variants get hill hold assist as well.

Powering the Maruti Suzuki Celerio is the K10C 1.0-litre three-cylinder petrol engine. This engine generates a maximum power output of 55hp and 89Nm of torque. It can be paired with a manual or automatic transmission. These transmission options offer a mileage of 25.24kmpl and 26.68kmpl respectively. Meanwhile, its CNG model generates a maximum power output of 56hp and 82Nm of torque. It has a fuel economy of 34.43km/kg. This makes the Celerio one of the most power-efficient cars in India.

Maruti Suzuki Celerio is available in 6 colour options – Arctic White, Silky Silver, Glistening Grey, Solid Fire Red, Speedy Blue and Caffeine Brown. It is rebadged and sold as Toyota Vitz in South Africa. In India, the hatchback rivals the Tata Tiago, Renault Kwid, and Hyundai Grand i10 Nios.
