Tata Punch EV: What to expect?

Tata Punch EV will replicate the design of its ICE sibling. There are no changes to the exterior of the SUV except for the inclusion of disc brakes at the rear wheels. Tata may update the ICE version of Punch in future to include this feature. Like other Tata EVs, the charging slot on the Punch EV will be located where the fuel lid typically is.

There are no changes to the platform as well. Tata Punch EV will be underpinned by the ALFA platform, similar to the ICE Punch and Tata Altroz. This platform can be easily adapted to function in an EV.

Not many details are known about the interior layout of the Tata Punch EV. Tata may reserve the 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system from the ICE model for the lower variants of the Punch EV. The higher variants could see Nexon EV’s 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system. The electronic parking brake and drive selector will also be borrowed from the Nexon EV.

Tata has kept the powertrain details for the Punh EV under a heavy lid. It is rumoured that the EV will share its powertrain with Tata Tigor EV. The 26kWh battery pack on the Tigor EV offers a driving range of 315km on a full charge. This battery pack can be charged from 0 to 80 percent in just 60 minutes with a fast charger. Tata Punch EV is likely to offer more battery pack options.
