Tata Punch EV: Everything you need to know

Here is what the full price list for Tata Punch EV looks like.

Variant Smart Smart+ Adventure Empowered Empowered+
Standard Rs 10.99 lakh Rs 11.49 lakh Rs 11.99 lakh Rs 12.79 lakh Rs 13.29 lakh
Long Range Rs 12.99 lakh Rs 13.99 lakh Rs 14.49 lakh

Tata Punch EV’s design is a complete departure from its ICE variant. The electric SUV looks like a smaller version of the Nexon EV. Up front, it gets a shut-off grille with a sleek LED bar running across the bonnet. The LED headlamps are housed on the bumper. These housings receive an edgy design, similar to the Safari and Harrier facelift models. The electric Punch is also the first EV from Tata that comes with a ‘frunk’ and a front charging socket.

In profile, the EV looks similar to its ICE sibling. There are a few changes here, though. The alloy wheels get a new design. Disc brakes have been made available for all four wheels. In comparison, the ICE Punch has disc brakes only on the front wheels. At the back, the Punch EV gets a dual-tone bumper and Y-shaped LED tail lamps.

Inside, the Tata Punch EV gets a 10.25-inch free-floating touchscreen infotainment system and another 10.25-inch display for the digital instrument cluster. The infotainment system supports Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The two-spoke steering wheel has an illuminated Tata logo at the centre. Other features include automatic headlamps, wireless charging, auto-dimming IVRM, leatherette seating, an electric sunroof, an air purifier with an AQI display, and more. The steering wheel has paddle shifters which enable the 4-level Multi-Mode Regeneration.

There are two battery options on offer – a 25kWh battery pack with a driving range of 315km and a 35kWh unit that can power the EV for 421km. There are two charging options as well – a 3.3kW wall charger and a 7.2kW fast charger. With a 50kW DC charger, the Tata Punch EV can be charged from 10-80% in 56 minutes.

The Long Range variants of the Tata Punch EV produce a maximum power output of 122hp and 190Nm of torque. Meanwhile, the Standard variant puts out 82hp and 114Nm. The former can go from 0-100kmph in 9.5 seconds with the top speed capped at 140kmph. Meanwhile, the latter can accomplish the same feat in 13.5 seconds.

Commenting on the launch of the Punch EV, Mr Shailesh Chandra, Managing Director, Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Limited & Tata Passenger Electric Mobility Limited, said, “Today marks a historic milestone in India’s EV journey as Tata.ev propels the nation into a new era of sustainable mobility with the launch of Punch.ev. Our unwavering mission to accelerate EV adoption has transformed the landscape, overcoming barriers with innovative solutions.

From the launch of the game-changing Nexon.ev and Tiago.ev to our constant work of creating a robust charging infrastructure, we’ve reshaped perceptions. Now with the launch of the Punch.ev, an SUV that goes beyond every day, we are taking our commitment to an all-new level by delivering a versatile EV that aligns with the evolving customer needs. It aims to catapult the Indian EV market, and leapfrog India into an era of pure EVs.”

Conclusion

The battery pack on the Tata Punch EV is rated IP67 for water and dust resistance. It is covered by a warranty of 8 years or 1,60,000km, whichever is earlier. The Punch EV is Tata’s fourth all-electric offering in India, following Tiago, Tigor, and Nexon EVs. The compact SUV rivals the likes of Citroen eC3, MG Comet, and Tata Tiago EV.
