Tata Nexon and Nexon.ev facelifts launched in India

Tata Motors has launched the new Tata Nexon and Nexon.ev facelifts in India. Prices for the ICE Nexon facelift start at Rs 8.10 lakh while the Nexon.ev range starts at Rs 14.74 lakh. The electric Nexon is the first Tata electric offering to carry the ‘.ev’ monicker as a part of the automaker’s EV portfolio rebrand. Tata has also renamed the variants for both the SUVs and updated them with new features.

Tata Nexon and Nexon.ev facelifts: What’s new?

The new Tata Nexon and Nexon.ev facelifts share the same design and overall looks. Both SUVs take design cues from Tata Curvv and Harrier EV concepts. The ICE version of the Nexon gets a very slim grille which is flanked on either side by split LED headlamps and DRLs. The Nexon.ev gets the same split headlamp design, but its DRLs are connected by a slim LED strip running through the nose of the EV. This LED strip displays the battery status when the SUV is charging.

Inside, both facelift models feature the same dashboard layout. The two-spoke illuminated steering wheel design for the Nexon has been lifted from the Curvv concept. Tata Nexon gets a new 12.3-inch floating touchscreen infotainment system and a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster. In terms of features, the SUVs get connected car tech, wireless charging, ventilated front seats, voice-assisted sunroof, touch controls for the HVAC, and more.

Under the hood, the Tata Nexon facelift continues to be offered with a 1.2-litre turbo petrol engine and a 1.5-litre diesel engine. The formers puts out 120hp and 170Nm while the latter produces 115hp and 260Nm. Both engines can be mated to a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed AMT gearbox. The petrol engine also gets 7-speed DCT and 5-speed manual transmission options.

Talking about the Tata Nexon.ev, the automaker has renamed the Prime and Max variants to MR and LR. The former gets a 30kWh battery pack that offers a driving range of 325km. Meanwhile, the 40.5kWh battery pack on the LR variant can go up to 465km on a full charge. This is an improvement of 12km for both variants. Talking about the power specs, the Nexon.ev MR puts out 129hp and 215Nm, while the LR variants produces 145hp and 215Nm.

Conclusion

The trims for the Tata Nexon ICE facelift now follow the nomenclature used by the Punch lineup. This means the new trims available for the SUV are – Smart, Smart+, Smart+ S, Pure, Pure S, Creative, Creative+, Creative+ S, Fearless, Fearless S, and Fearless+ S. The Nexon.ev is available in Creative, Fearless, and Empowered trims. The ICE Nexon rivals Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonet, Renault Kiger, Nissan Magnite, Mahindra XUV300, and Maruti Suzuki Brezza. Meanwhile, the Nexon.ev rivals the Mahindra XUV400 EV in India.
