After 4 years, the Renault Duster is about to make a comeback in India. The automaker has confirmed that the SUV will make its India debut on January 26, 2025. The current version of the Duster broke cover globally in November 2023. It will be the first car to be launched in India as a part of Renault’s ‘International Game Plan 2027’ strategy.

Renault Duster: What to expect?
The India-spec Duster will flaunt a sleek grille with integrated LED headlamps and Y-shaped LED DRLs. This grille features the Renault lettering. The global version of the Duster is underpinned by CMF-B platform co-developed by Nissan and Renault. This platform will be slightly tweaked for the India-spec model. At the back, the LED tail lamps will follow the design language of the DRLs.

Inside, the Renault Duster could feature a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a 7-inch driver’s display. The infotainment system will likely support wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The dashboard will have a dual-tone colour theme. There will be physical buttons for HVAC controls. Other features will include automatic climate control, rear AC vents, wireless charging, an Arkamys 3D sound system, and an ADAS package.

Renault has kept a tight lid on the engine specs for the India-bound Duster. Its international model is available in three powertrain options – 1.0L petrol, 1.2L petrol hybrid, and 1.3L turbo petrol. The 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine is offered with the entry-level variants of the SUV. It produces a maximum power output of 120hp. Meanwhile, the other two engines produce 140hp and 170hp, respectively. The hybrid powertrain gets regenerative braking and a 1.2kWh battery pack. It is expected that Renault will bring the 1.3L powertrain to India. The Duster could also end up using the 1.0L engine on the Magnite and Kiger.

Final Thoughts
The Renault Duster will also spawn a Nissan SUV. Nissan has confirmed that its Duster-based SUV will be called the ‘Tekton’. It is expected to launch in early to mid-2026. Meanwhile, the Duster will go on sale soon after its debut in January. We expect its prices to start at Rs 11 lakh. Upon launch, it will rival the Tata Sierra, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, Toyota Urban Cruiser HyRyder, Kia Seltos, Volkswagen Taigun, Hyundai Creta, Skoda Kushaq, Honda Elevate, and other midsize SUVs.
