Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara has crossed the 1 lakh sales landmark within a year of its launch. The midsize SUV was launched on September 26, 2022, at an introductory price of Rs 10.45 lakh. Following the instant success of the Grand Vitara in India, Maruti Suzuki has also become the biggest SUV maker in the country, acquiring a market share of 22% in the first half of FY2023.

Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara: The story so far
Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara is the fastest midsize SUV to reach the 1 lakh sales milestone in India. Part of the success lies in the Grand Vitara’s versatile mild hybrid and strong hybrid powertrain options. The SUV is available in two engine variants – a 1.5-litre K15C petrol engine with mild hybrid technology and Toyota’s 1.5-litre TNGA petrol engine with a strong hybrid system. The former puts out 103hp and 137Nm, while the latter produces 92hp and 137Nm by itself and 115hp and 137Nm in a strong hybrid setup. The electric motor alone produces a maximum power of 80hp with 141Nm peak torque.
The Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara also offers all the important features that buyers seek in an ideal midsize SUV. It gets a 9.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a fully digital instrument cluster, a 360-degree camera, a Head-Up Display (HUD), and a panoramic sunroof. The Grand Vitara is the first Maruti offering in India to come with a panoramic sunroof.

Prices for the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara currently start at Rs 10.70 lakh and go up to Rs 19.99 lakh for the top-spec strong hybrid variant. It rivals other midsize SUVs like Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Volkswagen Taigun, Skoda Kushaq, Honda Elevate, Citroen C3 Aircross, and Toyota Urban Cruiser HyRyder.
