Kia India will announce the prices for the Carens Clavis on May 23. The Kia Carens Clavis was revealed on May 8. Bookings for the MPV went live the following day. Buyers can book their model for a token amount of Rs 25,000. Essentially a facelift of the Kia Carens, the Clavis will be sold alongside the original MPV.

The Kia Carens Clavis is available in 7 trims: HTE, HTE(O), HTK, HTK+, HTK+ (O), HTX, and HTX+. The regular Carens MPV is now only available in 1 trim. The facelifted model gets Kia’s ‘Digital Tiger Face’ design. The LED DRLs seamlessly merge into the triangle-shaped cutout for the LED headlamps. The front and rear bumpers have been redesigned. The MPV retains its silhouette but gets new dual-tone 17-inch alloys. At the back, the LED taillamps are connected by a thicker LED light bar.

Kia Carens Clavis: What’s new?

The Kia Carens Clavis comes in 6 and 7-seat configurations. The upholstery and door trims have a lighter shade than the regular model. The facelifted model gets a dual 10.25-inch display setup for the touchscreen infotainment system and the digital instrument cluster. Other features of the MPV include a panoramic sunroof, a Level 2 ADAS suite, automatic climate control, cruise control, ambient lighting, and more.

Kia Carens Clavis: What’s new?

The Kia Carens Clavis shares its powertrain with the regular model. The 1.5-litre NA petrol engine generates a maximum power output of 115hp and 144Nm of torque. This engine is linked to a 5-speed manual gearbox. The 1.5-litre diesel engine puts out 116hp and 250Nm. It is available with an iMT or a DCT gearbox. Lastly, the 1.5-litre turbo-petrol unit generates 160hp and 253Nm. Buyers can choose a manual or torque converter gearbox with this engine.

Final Thoughts

The regular model of the Carens MPV is priced between Rs 10.60 lakh and Rs 19.70 lakh. We expect the Clavis to demand a premium of up to Rs 1 lakh. It rivals MPVs like Maruti Suzuki XL6, Toyota Rumion, and Maruti Suzuki Ertiga, along with 3-row SUVs like Tata Safari, Hyundai Alcazar, and MG Hector.
