MG Hector, Gloster, Astor, Comet get discounts of up to Rs 1.5 lakh

MG Motor has announced year-end discounts of up to Rs 1 lakh for the Hector, Gloster, Astor, ZS EV, and Comet. This is the first time that the Comet EV is being offered with discounts since its launch in May. The ZS EV receives significant discounts as well. These discounts will expire on December 31. They are available on the unsold MY2023 stock only.

MG Hector

Maximum Discount: Rs 1 lakh

The MG Hector SUV gets a total discount package worth up to Rs 1 lakh. This includes an exchange offer of Rs 1 lakh. MG Hector gets two powertrain options – a 1.5-litre petrol engine and a 2.0-litre diesel engine. The turbo petrol engine can generate a maximum power of 143hp with a torque of 250Nm, while the diesel engine can churn out 170hp with a torque of 350Nm. Both engines are mated with a 6-speed manual transmission, while the non-hybrid petrol version also gets the option of a CVT automatic.

MG Gloster & Astor

Maximum Discount: Rs 1.50 lakh

The Gloster and Astor SUVs get a total discount worth up to Rs 1.5 lakh. This includes an exchange bonus worth up to Rs 50,000. The 2.0-diesel engine powering the Gloster is offered in a ‘turbo’ and ‘twin-turbo’ configuration. The turbo engine can produce a maximum power of 161bhp and 375Nm peak torque, while the twin-turbo engine can generate a maximum power of 215bhp and 380Nm peak torque. The engine is mated to an 8-speed automatic gearbox.

Meanwhile, the Astor is powered by a 1.5-litre petrol engine. This engine produces a maximum power output of 110hp and 144Nm of torque. Buyers can choose between a 5-speed manual or a CVT gearbox.

MG ZS EV

Maximum Discount: Rs 1.50 lakh

The ZS EV from MG Motor also gets a total discount worth up to Rs 1.50 lakh, with Rs 50,000 in exchange bonuses. The electric SUV is powered by a front-mounted electric motor that produces a maximum power output of 176hp and 280Nm. The 50.3kWh battery pack offers a driving range of 461km. The EV can go from 0-100kmph in 8.5 seconds.

MG Comet EV

Maximum Discount: Rs 65,000

MG’s electric commuter gets a discount package worth up to Rs 65,000. Powering the Comet EV is a 17.3kWh battery pack that offers a driving range of 230km. This battery pack has been sourced from Tata AutoComp and is rated IP67 for dust and water resistance. It can be fully charged in seven hours using the 3.3kW charger. The electric motor on the Comet can produce a maximum power output of 42hp and 110Nm of torque.

As mentioned earlier, MG Motor will hike prices for its SUV catalogue in India next year. This includes MG Hector, Gloster, and Astor. More recently, the Indian conglomerate, JSW Group, bought a 35% stake in MG Motor from its parent company SAIC. This joint venture will undertake new initiatives like augmenting local sourcing, improving charging infrastructure, expanding production capacity, and introducing a broader range of vehicles with a focus on green mobility.
