MG Hector facelift: What to expect?

The first teaser drop from MG Motor confirms a new front grille for the Hector facelift. The new grille has a chrome garnish and is undeniably more premium than the one on the current model. The MG logo is embedded at the centre. The SUV will also feature a redesigned bumper and skid plate, although these details have not been confirmed by the teaser. No significant changes are expected along the sides, as the Hector SUV will retain its bold and dominating profile. However, it will get fresh 19-inch alloy wheels. The rear end will get some cosmetic changes as well, but none have been confirmed so far.

Inside, the Hector facelift will stick with its current dashboard layout. The vertically-arranged 14-inch touchscreen infotainment system will get up to 10GB of RAM, making it faster and more responsive. It will also feature multi-touch gesture controls. There will be wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity on board. The ADAS package on the current model offers features like Automatic Emergency Braking, Forward Collision Warning, Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Keep Assist, Lane Departure Warning, and more. The SUV will continue to be offered in 5 and 7-seat interior seating layouts.

Things will remain mechanically unchanged on the new MG Hector. The current model comes in 2 powertrain options – a 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine and a 2.0-litre diesel engine. The petrol engine is E20-compliant. It generates a maximum power output of 142hp and 250Nm. Meanwhile, the 2.0-litre diesel engine generates a maximum power output of 168hp and 350Nm of torque. Both engines can be mated to a 6-speed manual transmission. The petrol engine is also available with a CVT automatic transmission.
