MG Motor India has added a new ‘Blackstorm Edition’ to the Hector lineup in India. MG Hector is the third offering from the automaker after Astor and Gloster to receive a Blackstorm Edition. This special edition of the SUV is based on the Sharp Pro trim, which sits two levels below the top-spec variant. Prices for MG Hector Blackstorm Edition start at Rs 21.25 lakh.

MG Hector Blackstorm Edition: What’s new?

In true ‘Blackstorm’ fashion, the Hector SUV gets an all-black exterior with red highlights. The grille, front & rear bumpers, roof rails, and alloy wheels are finished in black. The LED projector headlamps have a piano black bezel while the tail lamps receive the ‘smoked out’ treatment. Red highlights can be found on the cutout for the headlamps, OVRMs, and brake callipers. The SUV also gets special ‘Blackstorm’ badging on the front fenders.

Inside, the MG Hector Blackstorm Edition gets all-black interiors with Blackstorm branding on the front headrests. The leatherette upholstery is also finished in black. The centre console, door trims, steering wheel, and AC vents receive gunmetal accents. Since, it is based on the Sharp Pro variant, MG Hector Blackstorm Edition is equipped with a 14-inch touchscreen infotainment system which is vertically aligned on the dashboard. This infotainment system supports wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Other features on the SUV include a digital driver’s display, a panoramic sunroof, a smart key, a push button for engine start/stop, and wireless charging.

Things remain the same under the hood as the MG Hector Blackstorm Edition continues to be offered in petrol and diesel powertrains, like the other Sharp Pro variants. The 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine can generate a maximum power of 143hp with a torque of 250Nm, while the 2.0-litre diesel engine can churn out 170hp with a torque of 350Nm. The former is mated to a CVT gearbox, while the diesel engine is paired with a 6-speed manual gearbox.

While the Blackstorm Edition of MG Hector is priced between Rs 21.25 lakh and Rs 22.76 lakh, the entry-level variant of the SUV is priced at Rs 13.99 lakh. It rivals the likes of the Mahindra XUV700, Tata Safari, Toyota Urban Cruiser HyRyder, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, Mahindra Scorpio N, Tata Harrier, Kia Seltos, Jeep Compass and Hyundai Creta in India.
