JSW MG Motor India is gearing up to launch its next offering in India. The new MG Cyberster will be launched in January 2025. The electric sportscar will be available exclusively through MG Motor’s new retail outlet, MG Select. The automaker will use this avenue to retail its premium and luxury offerings in India. Ahead of the launch, MG Motor has revealed the powertrain details of the India-spec version of the Cyberster.

MG Cyberster: Here’s what we know so far

The MG Cyberster takes design inspiration from the iconic MG B Roadster of the 1960s. It stands at the dimensions of 4,533mm x 1,912mm x 1,328mm and has a 2,689mm wheelbase. The sportscar has swanky LED headlamps on either side of the closed-off grille. The split air-intake vents are placed on the lower bumper. The profile of the car showcases its aerodynamic K-tail silhouette and the retractable roof. The sportscar features scissor doors. These doors have dual sensors for safety. It rests on 19 and 20-inch wheels. At the back, a sleek LED strip runs along the width of the car. The 2 turn indicators are positioned right below this strip in the shape of arrows.

The MG Cyberster will be powered by two oil-cooled motors mounted on the front and rear axle. The electric sportscar will produce a maximum power output of 510hp and 725Nm of torque. MG Motor claims it can go from 0-100kmph in just 3.2 seconds. It can attain a top speed of 201kmph. The 77kWh battery pack offers a driving range of 444km on a full charge. The 50:50 front and rear weight distribution helps the high-speed stability of the sportscar. The Cyberster is equipped with a front double wishbone and a rear five-link independent suspension.

In international markets, the MG Cyberster is also offered in a single-motor configuration. This single electric motor produces a maximum power output of 335hp. It can go from 0-100kmph in 5 seconds. Its top speed has been capped at 194km. The single-motor variant of the sportscar has a 508km driving range.

Inside, the MG Cyberster will boast a wraparound 3-screen cockpit and a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system. This infotainment system will support wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. It will also come with an 8-speaker Bose audio system.

Conclusion

Prices for the MG Cyberster will be revealed upon its launch. MG Motor is working on opening 12 ‘Select’ stores in India as a part of the first phase. The first phase involves the Tier 1 cities. It will slowly expand its presence in other cities by the end of 2025.
