Mercedes AMG A35 And CLA35 Edition 55 Launched: With Cosmetic Upgrades

To celebrate 55 years of the Mercedes-AMG GmbH performance subsidiary of the Mercedes-Benz AG brand, two special edition models have been added to its product portfolio. The brand recently unveiled its Mercedes AMG A35 and Mercedes AMG CLA35 Edition 55 trim. This comes after the brand’s AMG G63 and AMG GT were given makeovers last month. 

Amongst the changes in exteriors, both the AMG A35 and CLA35 Edition 55 models receive an AMG Aerodynamics Package which is said to improve their driving dynamics and performance. The package includes a front apron with an enlarged front splitter and canards. Adding to the sporty looks of the car are its side spoiler lips, AMG rear wing and rear apron, all having a glossy black finishing.

The two cars are also fitted with the AMG Night Package and the AMG Night Package 2. This includes high gloss black painted front splitters, louvres, air intakes, trim elements, exterior mirrors and window sills. Not only that but the tailpipes, wings, boot lid, front grille as well as model badges also get a black finishing. The car rides on 19-inch multi-spoke alloy wheels with a matt titanium grey finish. 

Speaking of the AMG A35 and CLA35 Edition 55 interiors, the cabin will be seen featuring a contrasting black and red leathered theme along with the stitching. The steering wheel is finished with DINAMICA microfibre, door sills feature an illuminated AMG badge while all elsewhere you will find aluminium finishing with red and black accents and the AMG emblem and ‘Edition 55’ engravings.

The mechanical powertrain of both the car models remains unchanged. They are powered by a 2.0L four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine delivering 302hp and 400Nm of torque. Two colour options are available, namely Cosmos Black Metallic and Digital White Metallic. 

The Edition 55 AMG A35 and CLA35 prices are expected to increase by £10,613 (over Rs 10 lakhs) in Germany. The CLA35 currently starts from £42,215 (Rs 42.2 lakhs approximately) whereas the smaller AMG A35 is priced at £41,550 (approx Rs 41.5 lakhs).
