After the launch of two of its sphere concepts Skysphere and Grandsphere last year, Audi has unveiled today its third sphere concept which joins the former two in their product lineup. The Audi Urbansphere Concept has finally been introduced globally at its world premiere ‘Celebration of Progress’ held virtually.
Oliver Hoffmann, Member of the Board of Audi Technical Development, said at the premiere, “ Our vision for premium mobility of the future is clear: automated driving, electric and fully connected.” He further added, “The sphere concepts are our vision of the future premium mobility. They combine innovative technology, premium comfort and sustainability in a human-centric and ground-breaking way. And they don’t just focus on pure driving pleasure. With their completely new interior, technical approach and design, they are the next level in customer experience.”
The Urbansphere Concept has been designed by the brand to focus on the Chinese markets. A heavy focus has been put upon maximising the individual private space of each of its occupants while taking them onto a completely futuristic ride. Starting right from its exteriors, the Audi Urbansphere Concept features super-slim headlights and a large honeycomb grille that takes over the majority of space on its front. The grille is lit throughout with digital lighting, making it look like an LED matrix. This LED matrix surface, which the crossover sports both on its front as well as its rear, can be personalised with a variety of lighting colours and patterns so that your ride becomes the signature of your arrival.
The roominess of the Urbansphere Concept interiors has been given central importance. The front and the passenger side doors of the vehicle open towards the opposite sides, just like a double-door gateway welcoming you into its spacious cabin. The crossover SUV concept takes care of even the minute details in its interiors to provide enhanced comfort, privacy and peace of mind to each of its passengers. Eliteness is reflected throughout the build of the vehicle.
Further, the interiors are open and clean, claimed to be designed with sustainable materials and provide calm ambient lighting, whether in the front or back row. The rear seats are also equipped with digital screens so that the Audi digital assistant, in the form of an avatar, is available to you no matter wherever you sit. These rear seat screens use innovative features like eye-tracking to intuitively know what you want to do next. The vehicle is also equipped with a cinema screen that lowers down from the roof for passengers in the rear row. What’s more, is that its seat can swivel outwards so that two passengers can face each other while talking.
What comes as one of the biggest highlights of the Urbansphere concept is that there is no steering wheel, pedals or display inside the car. Instead, it comes equipped with a unified touchscreen infotainment system and digital cluster display integrated within the dashboard itself which runs along throughout its front against the windshield. Moreover, with the help of the Audi personal assistant, you can convert your seat space into a private cubicle by extending a privacy shield in between.
Not only that but you are even provided with the option to switch on a private sound field for yourself. Your privacy is taken care of to such a level that you can engage in a conference call privately, sitting in the passenger seat and without getting even the slightest disturbance from the person sitting next to you. The premium crossover also seems to sport a glass roof for complete visibility throughout.
As if all this was not enough, the Urbansphere Concept takes your personal care even further to the next level. A passenger sitting in the rear seat can also opt for accessing its health services application via Audi’s personal digital assistant. Stress levels can be measured via the rear seat screens by facial and voice scanning, offering you destressing solutions like meditation sessions and more.
The Audi Urbansphere concept hence acts as your all-rounder private space, as your lounge, your cinema, your office and your personal experience device. Stay tuned in for more information about the ultimate futuristic concept vehicle.
