Maruti Suzuki Invicto will be offered in a single strong-hybrid variant

Maruti Suzuki Invicto is all set to make its debut in India on July 5. The automaker opened bookings for the MPV yesterday. This was followed by the announcement that the Invicto will be made available in one variant only. This variant will get a strong-hybrid powertrain and just one colour option.

Maruti Suzuki Invicto: Powertrain details

In a recent announcement, Maruti Suzuki revealed that its upcoming MPV will be made available in a single, strong-hybrid powertrain. This means that Invicto will not get the 172hp producing 2.0-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine unit. Instead, it will receive a 2.0-litre four-cylinder, Atkinson cycle petrol engine that puts out 181hp and 188Nm. Paired with this engine will be a Nickel Metal Hydride battery-powered electric motor. Both engines can produce a combined torque of 206Nm. Since it is a strong hybrid engine, there will only be an e-CVT gearbox on offer.

Maruti Suzuki Invicto shares this powertrain along with its platform with Toyota Innova HyCross. The Invicto is underpinned by Toyota’s TNGA-C platform. The two MPVs differ in design and styling. The Invicto shares a lot of design cues with the Grand Vitara and Baleno. It gets a wide grille flanked by LED headlamps and DRLs on either side. Connecting the headlamps are two horizontal chrome bars running across the grille. The LED DRLs will feature the three-dot design found on the Grand Vitara and Baleno.

Maruti Suzuki Invicto is the first Toyota car to be rebadged as a Suzuki product. The two automakers formed a global alliance back in 2017. Since then, Toyota has rebadged the Vitara Brezza as Urban Cruiser and Baleno as Glanza in India. In Europe, Suzuki rebadges Toyota’s RAV-4 and Corolla Wagon as A-Cross and Swace. Ciaz, Ertiga, and Celerio are also rebadged as Toyota cars in some foreign markets.

Conclusion

Maruti Suzuki Invicto can be booked at a token amount of Rs 25,000. It is set to be Maruti Suzuki’s most expensive offering in India, fetching upwards of Rs 20 lakh. The MPV will be sold exclusively through Nexa outlets. Upon launch, Maruti Suzuki Invicto will rival Tata Safari, Mahindra XUV700, and Toyota Innova HyCross.
