Maruti Suzuki Fronx is the latest offering from the automaker to be updated with 6 airbags as a standard feature. The price of the SUV has been hiked as a result. Maruti plans on equipping all of its cars with this standard safety feature by the end of the year. In July alone, all variants of Glanza, Baleno, Ertiga, and XL6 have received 6 airbags as standard fitment. S Presso and Ignis are the only Maruti offerings that are yet to be updated.

Maruti Suzuki Fronx: Prices hiked after safety boost
Previously, the Maruti Suzuki Fronx was available with 2 airbags as a standard feature. 6 airbags were reserved for its top-spec variants. The added standard safety equipment comes with a price hike of 0.5%. Other safety features of the SUV include Electronic Stability Program (ESC), ABS with EBD, Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS), a 360-degree camera and more.
Maruti Suzuki Fronx is available in 2 powertrain options. The 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine can produce a maximum power output of 100hp and 147Nm of torque. It can be mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox or a 6-speed torque converter automatic. The 1.2-litre K Series naturally aspirated petrol engine can produce a maximum power output of 90hp and 113Nm peak torque. This engine can also be mated to a 5-speed manual or automatic gearbox.
Maruti will soon add a hybrid powertrain to Fronx’s lineup. The hybrid model has been spotted testing in India on multiple occasions. The strong-hybrid powertrain could deliver a mileage of 30kmpl on the SUV. It will receive exclusive ‘Hybrid’ badging, but no other cosmetic changes will be made on the SUV.
Maruti Suzuki Fronx is packed with features like a 9.0-inch Smart Pro Play+ infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, Head Up Display, wireless charging, and a 360-degree camera. The SUV shares its platform and interior layout with the Baleno.
The Fronx recently became the fastest made-in-India SUV to clock 1 lakh exports. It is manufactured at Maruti’s Gujarat plant. In FY2024-25 alone, the automaker exported more than 69,000 units of the Fronx, making it the most exported car from India. The SUV reaches markets in Latin America, the Middle East, Africa and other regions.

As things stand, the prices for the Maruti Suzuki Fronx start at Rs 7.54 lakh and go up to Rs 13.06 lakh. The price hike will kick in the coming days. The Fronx rivals the Tata Punch, Citroen C3, Hyundai Exter, Nissan Magnite, and Renault Kiger.
