The highly anticipated Maruti Suzuki e Vitara will go on sale in India on December 2. Maruti’s debut all-electric car was unveiled in Milan last year. Earlier this year, it made its India debut at AutoExpo in New Delhi. Since then, the electric SUV has gone on sale in the UK, with Maruti shipping 7,000 units to foreign markets. However, due to production shortages, the EV has not been launched in its home territory yet.

Maruti Suzuki e Vitara: Coming soon to take over
The e Vitara went into production in August 2025. It is manufactured at Maruti Suzuki’s plant in Hansalpur, Gujarat. In September, the automaker shipped the first batch of the SUV, comprising 7,000 units, to Europe. It soon went on sale in the UK, where it is currently priced between £26,249 (~ Rs 30.58 lakh) and £32,049 (~ Rs 37.33 lakh).
The e Vitara stands at dimensions of 4,272mm x 1,800mm x 1,640mm and has a 2,700mm wheelbase. Its front section rocks tri-slash LED DRLs, edgy headlamps, and an upright nose. Its profile reveals the bold SUV stance. The charging port is positioned on the rear fender, where a traditional fuel tank opening would be. The door handles are mounted on the C-pillar. The LED tail lamps at the back follow the tri-slash design language of the DRLs.
The interior of the Maruti Suzuki e Vitara exudes a premium look. The 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system supports wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. There is a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster on board too. Other features include a panoramic sunroof, an Infinity audio system by Harmon, automatic climate control, a 10-way adjustable driver seat, ventilated front seating, ambient lighting with multiple colour zones, wireless charging, and an air purifier. There are 4 drive modes on offer – Eco, Normal, Sport, and Snow.
On the safety front, the electric SUV gets 7 airbags, a Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS), a blind spot monitor, front and rear parking sensors, an Electronic Parking Brake (EPB) with auto-hold, a 360-degree camera, and an Acoustic Vehicle Alarm System (AVAS). On top of that, the e Vitara comes with a Level 2 ADAS suite.
The e Vitara will be made available in 2 battery sizes – 49kWh and 61kWh. Maruti claims that these battery packs can operate within the -30°C – 60°C temperature range. The front-mounted electric motor produces a maximum power output of 143hp on the 49kWh variants and 173hp on the larger battery variants. The 61kWh battery pack has a 500km range. Maruti will reveal more details about the battery and powertrain as we get closer to launch.

Final Thoughts
The marketing and promotional campaign for the e Vitara is expected to begin next week. The booking window will open at the end of the month. We expect its prices to start at Rs 18 lakh. Upon launch, it will rival the Hyundai Creta Electric, Toyota Urban Cruiser EV, Mahindra BE 6, Tata Curvv EV, Tata Nexon EV, and MG Windsor EV in India.
