Auto giant Maruti Suzuki is all set to launch the latest iteration of its Alto series, the Maruti Alto 800 2022. Being one of the bestselling cars of its time in India, the Maruti Alto surely has sentiments attached to it of the whole country. Now what is to be seen is how the next-gen Maruti Alto 800 competes with the existing premium hatchbacks ruling the Indian markets currently.Â
The all-new Maruti Alto 800 2022, which is expected to launch around October 2022, will be primarily competing against rivals Santro and Kwid. It is expected to sport a tall-boy design with more modern looks. On the front can be seen its almond-shaped headlamps with the iconic Maruti Suzuki logo placed right in the centre, along with a gaping radiator grille below it. Some growth in certain proportions is expected which potentially will make room for larger cabin space. Top-end variants are speculated to provide a touchscreen infotainment system, keyless entry, dual airbags, a multi-function steering wheel and more.Â

Under its hood, the next-gen Maruti Alto 800 2022 is expected to share the same modular Suzuki Heartect which also underpins WagonR and S-Presso. A 5-speed manual transmission will be paired with an enhanced version of the 796cc naturally aspirated three-cylinder petrol engine. An AMT transmission option may also be provided additionally, along with a more powerful 1.0L K10 variant that may join its lineup as well.Â

The current Maruti Alto model comes with a range of comfort features including remote keyless entry, power steering, air conditioner with heater, Bluetooth connectivity, internally adjustable ORVMs along with SmartPlay Studio 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system. Its safety features include dual airbags, ABS with EBD, reverse parking sensor, speed alert system, and more.Â
Since the new model of the Maruti Alto 800 is expected to be more modern, spacious and better equipped, its prices may witness a slight rise. The price of the current Maruti 800 model in the Indian market starts at Rs 3.25 lakhs ex-showroom.Â
