Mahindra launched the new 5-door Thar Roxx at its Independence Day event yesterday. Prices for the Mahindra Thar Roxx start at Rs 12.99 lakh and go up to Rs 20.49 lakh for the top-spec variant. The Thar Roxx is available in six trims and two powertrains. The booking window for the Thar Roxx will open on October 2. The delivery rollout will begin on October 12.

The highlight of the Mahindra Thar Roxx’s front fascia is the new six-slot grille. This grille looks inspired by Jeep’s lifestyle SUVs. The Thar Roxx gets LED projector headlamps in circular cutouts. These headlamps are integrated with C-shaped LED DRLs. The bumper contains the housings for the fog lamps. Along the sides, the Thar rests on 19-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels. There are, of course, two additional doors and quarter glass windows on the 5-door Thar. The handles of the rear doors are positioned vertically.

Inside, the Mahindra Thar Roxx gets two 10.25-inch screens – one for the touchscreen infotainment system and the other for the digital instrument cluster. The interior rocks a dual-tone colour theme. The dashboard is dark brown while the upholstery is beige. Other features of the 5-door Thar include ambient lighting, wireless charging, automatic climate control, a cooled glove box, a front armrest, panoramic sunroof, powered driver’s seat, ventilated front seating, a 9-speaker Harmon Kardon sound system, and more. The availability of these features depends on the variant. An ADAS package is available for the higher variants.

The Mahindra Thar Roxx is available with two powertrains. The 2.0-litre turbo petrol engine produces a maximum power output of 174hp and 380Nm of torque. Meanwhile, the 2.2-litre diesel engine puts out 172hp and 370Nm. These engines can be mated to a 6-speed manual or automatic transmission.

As mentioned earlier, the Mahindra Thar Roxx will be open for bookings from October 2. Buyers can book their models online or at the nearest Mahindra dealership. The test drives for the SUV will begin on September 14. Upon launch, the Thar Roxx will rival the Maruti Suzuki Jimny and Force Gurkha.
