Maruti Suzuki has initiated a recall for 2,555 units of the Alto K10 hatchback. The automaker has revealed that the โsteering gearbox assemblyโ of the recalled units may have a potential issue. This could hamper the steering ability of the car. Last year, Maruti Suzuki recalled 87,599 units of the S Presso over a steering issue. Over 11,000 units of the Grand Vitara were recalled in January 2023 over a seatbelt issue.

Maruti Suzuki Alto K10 buyers can get affected parts replaced for free
Maruti Suzuki has not revealed the manufacturing dates of the affected units of the hatchback. Owners of the units slated for recall will be contacted by Maruti Suzuki and asked to schedule a visit at the nearest service centre. The automaker will inspect the car and replace the affected part free of cost.
Maruti Suzuki Alto K10 was launched in August 2022. Its design language is a departure from the classic Alto 800 and is more in line with the Celerio hatchback. The Alto K10 is underpinned by Marutiโs Heartect platform which is found in other A-segment Maruti hatchbacks. The Alto stands at dimensions of 3,530 x 1,490 x 1,520mm resting on a 2,380mm wheelbase.
Inside, the Maruti Suzuki Alto K10 sports all-black interiors. It packs a 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system. Other design elements like the door handles, power window buttons, steering wheel and AC vents are similar to S-Presso and Celerio. The Alto K10 also has Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity along with a host of safety features like ABS, ESP, dual airbags at the front, and seat belt pretensioners. However, the hatchback only managed to score a 2-star rating in the GNCAP tests last year.
Under the hood, the Maruti Suzuki Alto K10 will be powered by the 1.0-lire, three-cylinder, K10C engine that is also found in Celerio and S-Presso. This engine can produce a maximum power of 67hp and 89Nm torque. The K10C engine can be paired with a 5-speed manual or a 5-speed AMT gearbox. The mileage of theย Alto K10 is 24.39 kmpl for manual variants and 24.90 kmpl for automatic variants.
