2nd-gen Kia Seltos spotted testing in India for the first time

The upcoming 2nd-gen Kia Seltos has been spotted testing in India for the first time. Last month, the SUV was spotted in its home territory, South Korea. As things stand, Kia Seltos could launch globally in June-July 2025. The 1st-gen version of the Seltos, which is currently on sale in India, was introduced in 2019. The new version of the SUV will get a new design and multiple engine options.

2025 Kia Seltos: What to expect?

The Kia Seltos test mule that was spotted in India is identical to the one that was spied on in South Korea. The SUV seems to have retained the platform of its predecessor, so we do not expect any dimensional changes on the 3rd-gen model. When it comes to design, the Seltos will take inspiration from the Kia EV5. The SUV’s tail lamps are similar to the ones on the EV. These tail lamps are connected by a light bar. The headlamp design is inspired by the newer crop of Kia SUVs. It is integrated with LED DRLs. The grille up front has vertical slats.

Not a lot is known about the interior layout of the Kia Seltos. All the test mules so far have been heavily draped in camouflage. We expect the SUV to get feature and instrumentation upgrades. The current-gen version of the Seltos is already decked with a large 10.25-inch twin-screen infotainment system with Android Auto/Apple CarPlay support and a digital driver display. It also comes with a comprehensive ADAS package with 17 safety features.

Under the hood, Kia Seltos will continue with multiple options. The automaker has kept the powertrain details under the lid but we expect it to come with a petrol-hybrid engine. This engine option may be added after the launch of the car. The current-gen model of the Seltos is available in 2 engine options – 1.5L petrol and 1.5L turbo-diesel. The former generates a maximum power output of 115hp and 144Nm of torque. Meanwhile, the 1.5-litre turbo diesel engine puts out 116hp and 250Nm. The petrol can be paired with a 6-speed manual or a CVT gearbox. The diesel engine gets the option of a 6-speed iMT or a 6-speed automatic gearbox.

Conclusion

The prices for the current-gen model of the Kia Seltos start at Rs 10.90 lakh and go up to Rs 20.45 lakh in India. In other news, Kia will unveil the new Syros SUV in India later this month. The compact SUV will go on sale next year. Meanwhile, the next-gen version of Kia Seltos will rival the Hyundai Creta, Skoda Kushaq, Volkswagen Taigun, Honda Elevate, Citroen C3 Aircross, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, and Toyota Urban Cruiser HyRyder.
