Honda Amaze CNG available at dealership level

Earlier this month, Honda Car India launched the 3rd-generation Amaze at a starting price of Rs 8 lakh. The sedan is available in 3 variants and 1 powertrain option. Interestingly, the automaker has chosen not to add a CNG powertrain to Honda Amaze’s lineup yet. However, certain dealerships are offering it with a retrofit CNG kit at an additional price. The CNG powertrain is one of the most popular engine options in the compact sedan segment.

Honda Amaze CNG: Available at an additional cost

Since the Honda Amaze is not available with a factory-fitted CNG kit, the automaker has greenlit its dealerships to provide the option of a retrofit CNG kit to its buyers. Honda dealerships have collaborated with local RTO-approved CNG conversion outlets for this task.

The CNG kit conversion demands a baseline amount of Rs 1 lakh. The final amount depends on the state taxes. Buyers can also avail the factory warranty for the powertrain. Once that is done, the sedan can be sent to the RTO to change its fuel type in the documents.

Honda Amaze is currently available with a 1.2-litre iVTEC naturally aspirated petrol engine. This engine produces a maximum power output of 89hp and 110Nm peak torque. Transmission options include a five-speed manual and a CVT gearbox. The manual variant has a fuel efficiency of 18.65kmpl while the CVT variant offers a mileage of 19.46kmpl. Only the manual variants of the sedan can be converted to a CNG powertrain. The official mileage of the CNG model is currently unknown. However, due to the nature of the powertrain, the CNG model will have a lesser power output than its petrol counterpart.

In terms of features, the new Honda Amaze gets an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay support, a 7-inch semi-digital instrument cluster, and a multi-function steering wheel. Other features include a push start/stop button, rear seat armrests, rear AC vents, wireless charging, connected car tech, and more. On the safety front, the Amaze is equipped with 6 airbags, three-point seatbelts for all passengers, a lane watch camera, traction control, hill start assist, and more. There is also a Honda Sensing ADAS package on board.

Conclusion

Prices for the 3rd-gen Honda Amaze start at Rs 8 lakh for the entry-level V MT variant and go up to Rs 10.90 lakh for the VX CVT variant. There are 6 exterior colour options on offer. The compact sedan rivals the Maruti Suzuki Dzire, Hyundai Aura, and Tata Tigor in India.
