Kia India has announced that its midsize SUV, Seltos, has crossed 6 lakh cumulative sales in the country. The Kia Seltos was introduced in India back in 2019. It was updated with a 2nd-gen model last month. The SUV comes in multiple powertrain options and special ‘GT Line’ and ‘X Line’ variants. It remains one of the most successful midsize SUVs in India.

Kia Seltos: Sales likely to rise with the introduction of the 2nd-gen model
One of the primary drivers behind Kia Seltos’ success in the Indian market is its diverse and versatile powertrain lineup. The 2nd-gen version of the SUV comes in 3 engine options. The 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine generates a maximum power output of 115hp and 144Nm of torque. It can be mated to a 6-speed manual or CVT gearbox. Meanwhile, the 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine puts out 160hp and 253Nm. It can be paired with a 6-speed iMT or a 7-speed DCT gearbox. Lastly, the 1.5-litre diesel engine produces a maximum power output of 116hp and 250Nm torque. This engine can be linked to a 6-speed manual or automatic transmission.
The 2nd-gen Seltos carries a bold look, standing at dimensions of 4,460mm x 1,830mm x 1,635mm. This makes it 95mm longer and 30mm wider than the previous model. The SUV is underpinned by Kia’s new K3 platform. Its 2,690mm wheelbase is 80mm larger than its previous-generation counterpart. While it has only been over a month since its launch, the new model has seen stronger sales. The fresh ‘Digital Tiger Face’ comprising a black high-gloss grille with gunmetal accents, ‘Ice Cube’ LED headlamps, and ‘Star Map’ LED DRLs has upped the SUV’s style quotient.
There is no dearth of premium features on the Kia Seltos. The SUV packs a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system, an equally large digital instrument cluster, and a 5-inch display for HVAC controls. This setup forms its ‘Trinity Panoramic Display’. Other features include a 10-way powered driver’s seat with lumbar adjust and relaxation functions, ventilated front seats with a ‘welcome retract’ function for easy entry and exit, an 8-speaker Bose sound system, 64-colour ambient lighting, a dual-pane panoramic sunroof, keyless entry, and wireless charging.
Kia has not made any compromises on the safety front either. The midsize SUV packs 6 airbags, Anti-lock Brake System (ABS), Hill-Start Assist Control (HAC), Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Rollover Sensor, Rear Occupant Alert, Blind View Monitor, 360°Surround Camera, and Side Parking Sensors. Its Level 2 ADAS suite consists of 21 autonomous safety features, including Forward Collision Warning, Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist, Lane Keeping Assist, Smart Cruise Control with Stop & Go, and more.
Commenting on the milestone, Mr Sunhack Park, Chief Sales Officer, Kia India, said, “Crossing 6 lakh sales reflects sustained customer preference for a product that delivers strong fundamentals in design, safety, technology and performance. Seltos expanded expectations in the mid-SUV segment by offering features and configurations that were not widely available at the time of its launch. The consistent uptake across variants, including strong demand for top trims, indicates growing customer confidence in advanced safety systems and connected technologies.”
