Kia K4 sedan revealed globally

Kia has taken the wraps off the second-generation K4 sedan globally. The K4 will make its official debut at the New York Auto Show on March 27, 2024. The sedan gets important design upgrades which are in line with the automaker’s ‘Opposites Unite’ philosophy. Kia K4’s technical specifications and powertrain details have not been revealed yet. More details will emerge when the sedan gets showcased at the New York Auto Show next week.

Kia K4’s design looks similar to the newer crop of Kia cars. It takes inspiration from the likes of EV5, EV9, and the Carnival MPV. Kia’s designers refer to the K4’s design as ‘Twist Logic’ since it twists the ‘connections of logically aligned squares in a seemingly illogical fashion’.

The front facia of the Kia K4 is marked by L-shaped vertical LED headlamps and a sleek grille in the middle. The Daylight Running Lamps integrate with the horizontal chrome strips on the sedan. Along the sides, the K4’s sloping roofline lend it a coupe-like look. It rests on diamond-cut alloy wheels. The rear door handles have been incorporated into the C-pillar. In profile, the sedan exudes the sweptback fastback style. At the back, the K4 continues the vertical L-shaped design pattern for the tail lamps. The air diffuser is incorporated into the bumper.

Kia K4’s cabin gets a Slate Green theme. The automaker has also revealed that the sedan will get Canyon Brown, Onyx Black, and Medium Gray interior colour options as well. In terms of instrumentation, the K4 gets a dual-screen display on the dashboard. Underlining this display are physical buttons for functions such as ‘Home’, ‘Map’, and ‘Search’, and rotary controller. The steering wheel gets a two-spoke design and the Kia badging is aligned to the right.

Karim Habib, Executive Vice President, and head of Kia Global Design, said, “Every contour, curve and detail of the K4 has been carefully considered and crafted to adhere to Kia’s design philosophy, Opposites United, bringing together clean faceted surfacing and technological details in a bold, cohesive statement. Every aspect further strengthens the relationship between brand and design.”

“With the design of the K4, we are building on what we’ve learnt and making those values accessible to even more people, by bringing a product that is relevant and meaningful, to inspire the way they think, move and live.”

Conclusion

As mentioned earlier, the technical specifications of the Kia K4 will be made public on its debut next week. It is unlikely that the sedan will be launched in India. The automaker is working on a new sub-4m SUV which will be positioned between the Sonet and Seltos. Globally, the Kia K4 will rival the likes of the Honda Civic, Hyundai Elantra, and Toyota Corolla.
