Kia Carens Clavis priced at Rs 11.50 lakh

Kia Motors has announced the prices for its latest MPV. The Kia Carens Clavis range starts at Rs 11.50 lakh and goes up to Rs 21.50 lakh. The Clavis is essentially a facelifted version of the Carens MPV. The regular model of the Carens is sold alongside the Clavis. The facelift made its debut on May 8 and has since been open for booking at a token amount of Rs 25,000.

The Kia Carens Clavis is available in 7 trims: HTE, HTE(O), HTK, HTK+, HTK+ (O), HTX, and HTX+. Meanwhile, the regular model is now available in only 1 trim. The Clavis gets the automaker’s signature ‘Digital Tiger Face’ design for its front fascia. The LED DRLs seamlessly merge into the triangle cutouts for the LED headlamps. Along the sides, the MPV gets a new design for its 17-inch alloy wheels. The LED taillamps at the back are connected by a thicker light bar.

The Kia Carens Clavis is available in 6 and 7-seat layouts. Its cabin receives a lighter colour theme than the regular model. In terms of instrumentation, the facelifted MPV rocks dual 10.25-inch displays for the touchscreen infotainment system and the digital instrument cluster. Other features of the Clavis include a panoramic sunroof, a Level 2 ADAS suite, automatic climate control, cruise control, ambient lighting, and more.

No changes have been made to the powertrain of the Kia Carens Clavis. The 1.5-litre NA petrol engine generates a maximum power output of 115hp and 144Nm of torque. This engine is linked to a 5-speed manual gearbox. The 1.5-litre diesel engine puts out 116hp and 250Nm. It is available with an iMT or a DCT gearbox. Lastly, the 1.5-litre turbo-petrol unit generates 160hp and 253Nm. Buyers can choose a manual or torque converter gearbox with this engine.

Final Thoughts

The regular model of the Kia Carens is priced at Rs 11,40,900. As mentioned earlier, it is available in a single variant. The Carens Clavis rivals the Maruti Suzuki XL6, Toyota Rumion, and Maruti Suzuki Ertiga in India. It also faces competition from 3-row SUVs like the Tata Safari, Hyundai Alcazar, and MG Hector.
