Hyundai Verna to be exported globally from June onwards

Made-in-India Hyundai Verna is next in line to be exported to foreign markets from India. Hyundai recently launched the 2023 Verna in India at a starting price of Rs 10.89 lakh. Hyundai will start exporting the SUV globally in June. The SUV will hit the Middle Eastern, Latin American, and African markets.

80,000 units of Hyundai Verna will be set aside for exports

It is believed that Hyundai will be exporting the Verna solely out of India. The automaker also manufactures Creta and Alcazar in the country. The automaker plans on producing 1.2 units of the next-generation Verna in FY2024. 80,000 of these units will be set aside for export to foreign markets, doubling the number of exports from the previous year.

Hyundai has taken a new approach in terms of designing the new Verna. The sedan looks radically different from the outgoing model. Up front, Hyundai Verna gets a new design for the LED headlamps along with a thin LED strip running across the bonnet. The grille is now wider in size and gets a parametric jewel design which looks similar to the one on Tucson.

The profile of the sedan sports prominent, muscular lines running across the body and merging into the wheel arches. The turbo petrol variant of the Verna gets all-black diamond-cut alloy wheels with red brake callipers.

Inside, the Hyundai Verna sports an all-black dashboard theme with red highlights for the turbo petrol variant and a dual-tone colour finish for the NA petrol engine variant. An ambient light strip with 64 colour options runs across the dashboard and the doors. On top of that, the sedan gets a 10.25-inch dual touchscreen infotainment system. The front seats on the Verna are heated and ventilated, the first in the segment to be that way. 

The 2023 Hyundai Verna comes in two engine options – 1.5-litre MPi Petrol and 1.5-litre Turbo GDi Petrol. The former produces a maximum power output of 115hp and 144Nm peak torque. Transmission options for this powertrain include a 6-speed manual and an IVT automatic gearbox. The turbo petrol engine puts out 160hp and 253Nm and can be mated to a 6-speed manual or 7-speed DCT gearbox.

Conclusion

Hyundai has exported over 4.5 lakh units of Creta and Alcazar from India. Over the years, the automaker has expanded its manufacturing capacity to accommodate the demands of the local market while keeping up the export quota. At present, Hyundai’s manufacturing facilities in India can produce up to 8.5 lakh units per year.
