Hyundai Creta, Venue, and i20 updated with new safety features

Hyundai has added a new safety feature to three of its models. Hyundai Creta, Venue, and i20 will now come with three-point seatbelts as standard across all variants. Hyundai also updated the engines of some of its offerings earlier this month to meet the new BS6 Phase II emission norms.

Hyundai Creta, Venue, and i20 receive three-point seatbelts as a standard feature

Hyundai’s decision to include the three-point seatbelt as a standard feature is in line with Govt. of India’s most recent safety guidelines. Also mentioned in these guidelines is the mandatory inclusion of six airbags. These guidelines are expected to be incorporated into the law as a part of the Motor Vehicles Act.

Apart from receiving the three-point seatbelt as a standard feature, Hyundai Creta, Venue, and i20 have also been updated with adjustable rear headrests. This feature is not offered as standard across all variants. In the i20 lineup, only the Asta trim will carry this feature. Hyundai Aura and Grand i10 Nios also get rear headrests added to their feature list. Hyundai Creta and Venue have also been updated with two-step reclining rear seats.

This isn’t the first update for Hyundai Creta and Venue this year. In early 2023, the two SUVs were updated with safety features like six airbags, ESC, VSM, Hill Assist, rear disc brakes, ISOFIX mount, Idle Start/Stop, and height-adjustable seatbelts.

Hyundai Creta is one of the dominating cars in the midsize SUV segment. The SUV is offered in three powertrain options: a 1.5-litre NA petrol unit a 1.4-litre turbocharged petrol unit, and a 1.4-litre diesel unit. Hyundai Venue is powered by a 1.0-litre 3-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine that can generate a maximum power of 118bhp and 172Nm peak torque.

Conclusion

Hyundai is also gearing up to launch a facelift model for the Creta. The new Creta will retain the same engine options but will come with a bigger front grille, new tail lamps, and updated interiors. The facelift recently scored a 5-star rating in the ASEAN NCAP tests. Currently, Hyundai Creta rivals the likes of Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, Toyota Urban Cruiser HyRyder, Kia Seltos, Skoda Kushaq, and Volkswagen Taigun.
