Honda Elevate: What to expect?

Honda Elevate has been spotted testing on Indian roads multiple times in the last few months. The Elevate shares a lot of design elements with other Honda SUVs sold overseas. Up front, the SUV gets a sleek headlamp setup along with integrated DRL. It also gets a wide grille and an upright nose.

Along the sides, Honda Elevate gets lots of body cladding and square wheel arches. A sunroof was also spotted on the test mules. The SUV sports a sloping roofline and a tailgate-mounted spoiler. The tail lamp looks similar to the WRV that is sold in Indonesia. A 360-degree camera can also be spotted on the side mirrors.

Honda Elevate is expected to get the fifth-gen Honda City’s powertrain. This means it will get the 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine that can produce a maximum power output of 121hp. Transmission options include a 6-speed manual or a CVT automatic gearbox. This engine will also be available in a strong hybrid configuration where it produces 126hp. This setup gets an e-CVT gearbox. Honda Elevate will not be made available with a diesel engine.

Honda also has a sub-compact SUV codenamed PF2 in the works. This SUV will be made available with a 1.2-litre petrol engine that does duty on Honda Amaze. It is possible that this SUV will be made available in a mild-hybrid configuration.

Conclusion

The new Honda Elevate will be unveiled on June 6 and is expected to launch in August. While Honda has kept a tight lid on the interior specs, the SUV is expected to come with a 10.2-inch touchscreen infotainment system. It is expected to be slightly pricier than the other midsize SUVs on the market. Upon launch, Honda Elevate will rival Hyundai Creta, Volkswagen Taigun, Kia Seltos, Toyota Urban Cruiser HyRyder, and Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara.
