Citroen eC3: Everything you need to know

In terms of design, the all-electric Citroen eC3 looks exactly similar to the ICE C3. The only cosmetic changes are EV-exclusive, which means the eC3 ditches the exhaust pipe and gets a charging port instead. Inside, the eC3 gets a drive selector instead of a gear stick. Other than that, its interior layout is similar to its ICE sibling. Since the body parts used on the ICE C3 and its electric variant are the same, Citroen has been able to cut down on a lot of production costs for the latter.

Powering the Citroen eC3 is a single electric motor that can produce a peak power output of 57hp and 143Nm torque. In comparison, the ICE C3 produces 110hp and 190Nm. eC3’s rival Tata Tiago EV, which is currently the most affordable EV on the market, produces a maximum power of 74hp (55 kW) and 114Nm peak torque. The 29.2kWh battery pack on the eC3 is sourced from China and offers a driving range of 320km.

The 3.3 kW AC charger provided with the electric hatchback can fully charge the EV in under 11 hours. With DC fast charging, the eC3 can be charged from 10-80% in under an hour. Tata Tiago EV is available in two battery pack options: 19.2 kWh and 24 kWh. The former offers a driving range of 250km while the latter offers 315km.

In terms of features, the Citroen eC3 gets a 10.2-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity. It is also compatible with the MyCitroen Connect app which offers a host of features like displaying the charging status and locating nearby charging stations.

Conclusion

Citroen will reveal the pricing for the eC3 upon its launch. It is expected to be priced at around Rs 10 lakh, which would make it more expensive than Tata Tiago. At this price, the Citroen eC3 will rival Tata Tiago EV as well as the Tigor EV.
