Citroen is currently in the middle of rebranding its portfolio in India as a part of its ‘Shift Into The New’ strategy. Last month, the automaker launched the C3X in India at a starting price of Rs 7.91 lakh. Now, the Citroen Basalt X has been released into the market at the price of Rs 12.90 lakh. Interestingly, the X model, which is based on the top-spec Max trim, has received a price reduction of Rs 97,000. Prices of the entry-level model have been dropped by Rs 37,000.

The Basalt X Max trim is available with a 360-degree camera and a dual-tone finish. These upgrades fetch a premium of Rs 25,000 and Rs 21,000, respectively. Apart from the ‘X’ badging, there are no cosmetic changes on the crossover.
Inside, the Basalt X gets a new pattern for the dashboard to distinguish it from the rest of the lineup. It is wrapped in a leatherette material with a soft touch finish. The bronze trims offer a nice contrast to the black upholstery.
There are numerous feature upgrades on the crossover. The biggest of them all is the ‘Cara Citroen Assistant’. This intelligent assistant brings a conversational flow to the dynamic. It supports multiple languages and can adapt to the way you talk. Cara can fetch stock prices, match scores, flight updates, weather forecasts, traffic updates, and more. It can also check the fuel level and tyre pressure. In emergencies, it can contact SOS services.
Other feature upgrades on the Basalt X include auto-dimming IVRM, white ambient lighting, ventilated seating, keyless entry, push-button start/stop, LED fog lamps, and more. As mentioned earlier, buyers can opt for a 360-degree camera at an additional cost of Rs 25,000. Safety features include six airbags, ESC, TPMS, and a rear parking camera.
Things remain the same under the hood, as the Citroen Basalt X continues to be powered by the 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder, turbo-petrol engine. This engine generates a maximum power output of 110hp and 190Nm of torque. It can be mated to a 6-speed manual transmission or a 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox (where it produces 205Nm of torque). The entry-level variants are powered by a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine that puts out 82hp and 115Nm. This engine can only be mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox.

Final Thoughts
Bookings for the Basalt X were opened last month. Interested buyers can book their unit for a token amount of Rs 11,000. The crossover rivals Tata Curvv, along with midsize SUVs like Hyundai Creta, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, and more.
